Hadhramout University Journal of Natural & Applied Sciences

Removal of eriochrome black-T (EB-T) dye from aqueous solutions was performed by adsorption onto Yemeni palmdate stones. The adsorption isotherm was found to follow the Langmuir model. Two simplified kinetic models including pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order equation were selected to follow the adsorption processes. Kinetic studies showed that the adsorption followed pseudo-first order kinetic model. Various thermodynamic parameters such as Δ𝐻 = -3465.3 J/mole and Δ𝑆 = -10.1 J/K/mole. Δ𝐺 was found to be -4495.5, -2195.2, -2235.7 and -45.39 J/mole at 298, 318, 328 and 338 K respectively, the maximum adsorption capacity was equal to 142 mg/g. The results …

Hadhramout University Journal of Natural & Applied Sciences

In this research, the adsorption process was studied for methylene blue eriochrome black-T from aqueous solutions on the surface of activated carbon prepared from coconut husk by chemical activation with potassium hydroxide. The results show that the adsorption isotherm for methylene blue follows the Langmuir model while it follows the Freundlich model and the maximum adsorption capacity was 909 mg/g for methylene blue and 262 mg/g for eriochrome black-T. The equilibrium contact time reached in about 90 minutes at lower concentrations and 120 minutes at higher concentrations. Two simplified kinetic models including pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order equations were selected to follow …

Makara Journal of Science

Study of doping process of metal oxide Cr(III) onto bentonite for phenol removal has been done. The purpose of this study was to increase the capacity and effectiveness of bentonite adsorption. The doped bentonite was characterized using XRD, SEM-EDX and FT-IR spectrophotometer analysis. XRD characterization result showed an angle shift (2θ) characteristic at1.609°. The SEM-EDX characterization result showed that bentonite as control have a more gaps than Cr(III)-doped bentonite. Based on EDX result, the Al element decreased from 7.53% to 3.76%, Si from 19.84% to 10.23% and appeared Cr element 2.06%, The FT-IR characterization result showed no significant friction in the …

Studying The Possibility Of A New Azo Dye On Raw Fabric Surface And The Methodsof Dying Process, Noor Mustafa Kamal, Hana Khazal Abed Al-Ghreeb

Al-Qadisiyah Journal of Pure Science

A new dye AZO 4-antipyl azo (benzoic acid) was prepared. The possibility of adsorption of the water solution to the dye was studied on a raw white cloth surface where the cloth was treated and the impurities removed Before conducting adsorption experiments. The results showed that the suitable conditions for the adsorption process were in the acidic medium of the water solution of the dye. In the neutral and basal medium, the adsorption process was not induced. The effect of temperature on the adsorption process was also studied , The aim of this study was to use dye prepared in …

In this work, we study the elimination of three bivalent metal ions (Cd$^{2+}$, Cu$^{2+}$, and Pb$^{2+}$) by adsorption onto natural illitic clay (AM) collected from Marrakech region in Morocco. The characterization of the adsorbent was carried out by X-ray fluorescence, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The influence of physicochemical parameters on the clay adsorption capacity for ions Cd$^{2+}$, Cu$^{2+}$, and Pb$^{2+}$, namely the adsorbent dose, the contact time, the initial pH imposed on the aqueous solution, the initial concentration of the metal solution and the temperature, was studied. The adsorption process is evaluated by different kinetic models such …

Disposal of contaminated wastewater causes many serious problems especially when it gets mixed with the ground and seawater. It is, therefore, important to apply any remedial action to eradicate dangerous pollutants from the aqueous effluents and to avoid exposure of this wastewater to aquatic life. The research results discussed herein deal with the removal of Rhodamine B (RhB) and Congo Red (CR) dye from wastewater by using multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as an adsorbent. Different factors like solid dosage, initial pH and concentration, time, and temperature were studied to understand the behavior and mechanism of adsorption. The maximum adsorption capacity …

Fabrication And Characterization Of Amidoxime-Functionalized Silica Decorated Withcopper: A Catalytic Assembly For Rapid Reduction Of Dyes, Ijaz Ahmed Khan, Muhammad Inaam-Ul-Hassan, Hazrat Hussain, Syed Mujtaba Shah, Tariq Yasin

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

In this study, amidoxime-functionalized silica decorated with copper (AFS-Cu) was fabricated and tested for its catalytic application. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction were employed to characterize its structure and morphology. The application of AFS-Cu as a catalyst for the catalytic reduction of methylene blue (MB) in aqueous media using NaBH$_{4}$ as reductant was evaluated. The ability to reuse as well as the effect of catalyst dose and pH of solution on the catalytic activity was investigated. The reduction of MB followed pseudo-first-order kinetics and the rate constant (k) was 0.6224 min$^{-1}$. …

Turkish Journal of Chemistry

The use of microalgae biomass is an alternative solution to the problem of environmental pollution due to heavy metals, one of which is Cr metal in leather tanning liquid waste. However, the ability of biomass to adsorb heavy metals has limitations. Therefore, the algal biomass is immobilized with silica gel in order to obtain a stable structure. This research aims to study the absorption efficiency of Cr (VI) metal by the biomass of Spirulina sp. which is immobilized with silica gel from the tannery liquid waste. The preparation stages in this study were adsorbent preparation, immobilization of biomass with silica …
