Total fluoride concentration of dentifrice was determined by acid diffusion from 4.6 M perchloric acid for 24 hours at room temperature. The diffusion of fluoride is accelerated by the presence of hexamethyldisiloxane. It was found that the mean recovery of added standard fluoride was 95.1 +3.2 percent. The 0.5 grams dentifrice was selected for the analysis.
