The need for rehabilitation services in nursing homes (NH) for the elderly is increasing each year, and this need is fulfilled both with ordinary clinical rehabilitation center visits, as well as community-based rehabilitation (CBR) inside the facility. However, a proper situation analysis is needed to establish a well-delivered CBR program in the NH, a niche to be fulfilled in this study. This study used a descriptive measurement and cross-sectional design to target the elderly who are living in the NHs. Consecutive sampling was done in the largest NH in Jakarta, in Cipayung District. Response To: A Telehealth Explosion: Using Lessons From The Pandemic To Shape The Future Of Telehealth Regulation, Joanna Sax

Texas A&M Law Review

In A Telehealth Explosion: Using Lessons from the Pandemic to Shape the Future of Telehealth Regulation, published in the Texas A&M Law Review, Professor Deborah Farringer tackles the critical issue of the efficacy and implementation of telehealth, using our experience(s) of telehealth during the COVID–19 pandemic as the guide. This is important, as Professor Farringer acknowledges, because while telehealth advocates pre-date the pandemic, barriers prevented the implementation of telehealth in a widespread manner. These barriers included a concern about fraud and a question as to whether telehealth visits could provide effective outcomes compared to in-person visits. Professor Farringer …

Ameliorating Role Of Ulva Lactuca Extract On Neurobehavioral And Neurochemical Abnormalities Caused By Lithium In Rats, Samira Bouhalit, Noura Brahmi

Journal of Bioresource Management

Lithium is a relevant mood-stabilizing agent that is used in the management of depressive and manic episodes in bipolar, disorder; however, its application may cause diverse side effects including oxidative stress. This work investigated the neuroprotective and anti-stress activity of Ulva lactuca extract (MEUL) against lithium induced neuronal toxicity in rats. Lithium (2 g/kg) was administered in diets with or without MEUL (250 mg/kg BW by gavage) for 90 days. Lithium induced oxidative stress lead to an elevation in lipid peroxidation and oxidation protein product levels, a reduced superoxide dismutase, glutathione peroxidase activities, glutathione, and ascorbic acid concentrations in brain. …

Management Of Chronic Kidney Disease-Mineral And Bone Disorder (Ckd-Mbd), Pringgodigdo Nugroho

Jurnal Penyakit Dalam Indonesia

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is still a burden on worldwide health issues affecting about 11-13% of the general population. Chronic kidney disease-mineral and bone disorder (CKD-MBD) is a common complication in CKD, which occurs early in the disease, and progresses as kidney function deteriorates. With declining kidney function, mineral homeostasis becomes progressively dysregulated, including alterations in several parameters such as calcium, phosphate, intact parathyroid hormone (iPTH). Changes in these parameters are associated with bone disorders and vascular abnormalities, which are strongly correlated with increased cardiovascular (CV) morbidity and mortality, and overall mortality. Currently, CKD-MBD and its complication management have been …

Journal of General - Procedural Dermatology & Venereology Indonesia

Background: The association between psoriasis and metabolic syndrome is appealing as the two may share a similar cross-linking systemic inflammation process. The inflammation processes occurring in obesity and psoriasis may aggravate one another. This raised the question of whether a low-calorie diet would possibly reverse the aforementioned process. This study aims to determine whether calorie restriction reduces psoriasis area and severity index (PASI) in obese patients with moderate-to-severe psoriasis receiving conventional treatment compared to no calorie restriction.
Methods: We searched Pubmed/Pubmed Central, ScienceDirect, Cochrane library, EBSCOhost, and Scopus databases using keywords derived from our clinical question. The inclusion …
