The conventional current procedures targeting the periodontal treatment for the diseased teeth and gums are based on arresting the destruction of these supporting structures and limiting the number of bacteria present. However, an ideal treatment would be regenerative in nature and should be accompanied with the reconstruction of these periodontal tissues back to normal. The application of Regenerative Dentistry is achieved through using the concept of cell and molecular biology to empower dental treatments that target a repair process for oral tissues instead of utilizing synthetic materials.
