Research On Food Safety Management In Post Epidemic Period From The Perspective Of Supply Chain, Li Zhang Feb 2023

Research On Food Safety Management In Post Epidemic Period From The Perspective Of Supply Chain, Li Zhang

Food and Machinery

The characteristics of food supply chain and risks formation mechanism of key links of food safety based on the perspective of supply chain were reviewed, and the countermeasures of food risk management in the post-epidemic period was discussed. We proposed that strengthening the food safety risk management and establishing an information-sharing platform for food safety supply chain are urgent, and this will optimize the food safety organization and coordination mechanism, improving the food safety monitoring system.

Towards A “Rescue Ready” Mindset: Can Lifeguard Teams Learn Lessons From The Attributes Of Chronic Unease?, Billy Rj Doyle, Jonathon Webber Dec 2019

Towards A “Rescue Ready” Mindset: Can Lifeguard Teams Learn Lessons From The Attributes Of Chronic Unease?, Billy Rj Doyle, Jonathon Webber

International Journal of Aquatic Research and Education

Highly Reliable Organisations (HROs) are safety-centric organisations that operate in complex environments alongside risky technologies and processes. There is a high risk of catastrophe and error in these settings, the consequences of which may result in loss of life, financial cost, and damage to the environment. “Chronic unease” is a concept originally adopted by Royal Dutch Shell describing a mindset that has five predictable attributes that contribute to an individual’s and organisational safety culture. The authors of this paper describe the attributes of chronic unease in the context of lifeguard operations. A case study of a dangerous and dynamic rescue …

The New Safety Net: Dairy Margin Protection Program Participation And Payouts, R. Reid Jan 2015

The New Safety Net: Dairy Margin Protection Program Participation And Payouts, R. Reid

Kansas Agricultural Experiment Station Research Reports

The Dairy Margin Protection Program created by the 2014 Farm Bill offers a new risk management option available for dairy producers. By “insuring” a margin between the price of milk and the cost of feed inputs, producers can have protection from declining milk prices, rising feed costs, or both. More than half of the dairies in the U.S. participated in at least the catastrophic level of coverage for 2014, which locks them into participating through 2018 when a new Farm Bill is written. Coverage level and production history enrolled can change year to year however; therefore, each year producers will …

Measurement Of The Effect Of Policy Changes On Volatility In Dairy Markets1, Eoin Kelly, Declan O'Connor, Michael Keane Jan 2013

Measurement Of The Effect Of Policy Changes On Volatility In Dairy Markets1, Eoin Kelly, Declan O'Connor, Michael Keane

Irish Business Journal

Volatility in dairy commodity markets has become a major concern for many in the dairy supply chain and is likely to remain so in the future. Changes to the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) over the past decade have more closely aligned EU and World prices and their associated volatilities. The aim of this paper is to measure volatility at farm level in Ireland over time, identify possible reasons for the increased volatility and identify ways of reducing volatility. Statistical measures such as coefficient of variation (CV) and annualised standard deviation are used to provide measures of past volatility and its …

Heat Stress And Injury Prevention Practices During Summer High School Football Training In South Texas, Christopher M. Hearon‡, Alberto Ruiz‡, Zachary J. Taylor† Apr 2010

Heat Stress And Injury Prevention Practices During Summer High School Football Training In South Texas, Christopher M. Hearon‡, Alberto Ruiz‡, Zachary J. Taylor†

International Journal of Exercise Science

Int J Exerc Sci 3(2) : 55-63, 2010. The purpose was to describe practice conditions influencing the risk of heat stress to athletes in summer football training in South Texas high schools, and to compare these conditions to ACSM recommendations for heat stress/injury risk reduction in this population. Thirty (N=30) high school summer football practices were observed. Wet bulb globe temperature (WBGT) was measured before/after practices and practices were observed for: duration/ structure; athlete clothing; and rest break frequency/duration/content. Practices averaged 125+31 min and WBGT (pre- to post-practice) was 29.7+2.1°C to 31.2+2.2°C for morning, and 31.2+1.6°C to 28.9+1.2°C for evening …

Five-Hundred Life-Saving Interventions And Their Misuse In The Debate Over Regulatory Reform, Lisa Heinzerling

Coping With The Risk Of Cancer In Children Living Near Power Lines, Eileen N. Abt Jan 1994

Coping With The Risk Of Cancer In Children Living Near Power Lines, Eileen N. Abt

RISK: Health, Safety & Environment (1990-2002)

Ms. Abt briefly summarizes evidence linking power lines with a possible increase in risk of childhood cancer. She also recounts how, although many experts remain skeptical of causality, public fears, whether or not warranted, have themselves created serious problems. Finally, she proposes ways to address those problems.

Public Accountability Of Advisory Committees, Sidney A. Shapiro Jun 1990

Public Accountability Of Advisory Committees, Sidney A. Shapiro

RISK: Health, Safety & Environment (1990-2002)

The final paper from the symposium on public participation in Risk management discusses existing procedures for ensuring the integrity of advisory committee recommendations. It concludes that they are inadequate and argues that accountability would be better served if nonexperts were included. It also suggests that, in any event, measures need to be taken to indicate, e.g., the bases for committee conclusions.
