Papers consist primarily of personal and professional correspondence; board meeting and committee meeting minutes and reports; drafts, manuscripts, and published professional papers; documentation chronicling his role with the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC) in Japan, his role in the organization and development of a regional medical plan centered in Houston, of the University of Texas (UT) Postgraduate School of Medicine and its Division of Continuing Education, and of M. D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute (MDAH), currently known as UT M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, and its renowned Department of Pediatrics. See more at MS 044.

The collection includes items such as photographs and elevation drawings for the building that was built in the 1950s. The collection also includes information about the accreditation of the school as well as it's curriculum. Curriculum resources include teacher guides, study materials, and course catalogs and schedules. Manuscript Finding Aids

Dr. Tessmer served as the first Director of the Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission (ABCC), NAS-NRC Field Agency, from 1948 to 1951. His archival collection relates to the origin and subsequent progress of the ABCC. The bulk of the material in his collection is administrative in nature. Included are semi-annual and annual reports, NAS and NRC committee reports, early negotiations, reports from the initial clinical surveys, published scientific reports and correspondence dating from 1947. Approximately, 300 photographs and 15 sets of negatives accompanied Dr. Tessmer's Collection. See more at MS 068.

The notebooks from Dr. Knobil's research laboratories comprise the largest series (X). General Files, Series IV, contains material including correspondence, lectures and speeches from the early 1980s to 2000. It was retained in the alphabetical order it was received. Material in Series II was labeled Harvard and deals primarily with Dr. Knobil's tenure at Harvard University in the 1950s. The Texas Medical Center (TMC) Historical Resources Project records contain video oral histories of notable personalities associated with or visiting the TMC. Beginning in 1973, the initial group of interviews focuses on individuals involved in the founding or early days of the TMC. Later “video profiles” also include significant visitors to the TMC. Several of these feature national and international figures in cancer research on their visits to Houston. In total the collection features forty-seven unique recordings of interviews with thirty-eight different individuals. All forty-seven unique recordings have been digitized. See more at IC 084.

The Menninger collection comprises medical realia, publications, and ephemera from the Menninger Clinic and its former owners. The collection illustrates the evolution of the science of psychiatry and psychiatric treatment as seen through the eyes of America's first family of psychiatry, the Menningers, who opened its eponymous clinic in Topeka, Kansas, in 1925. Objects in the collection date as far back as 1854 through 2003, the year the clinic and its archive moved to Houston. See more at IC 078.
