This school improvement plan describes Education 4.0 and elucidates the critical need for updating school curriculum and teaching methods. Our education system is largely outdated and ill prepares students for their future. The following improvement plan seeks to transform pedagogy into that which is student centered. To do this, schools must update their curriculum and teaching methods, implement the latest technology, and redesign the classroom setting. Through this project, I will identify the reasons for needed change in schools and explain Education 4.0.

This classroom action research project compares the impact of instructional coaching with the focus on effective mathematics teaching strategies as outlined by the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics in the text Principles to Action. Two 3rd grade classrooms were studied with one being a control classroom and the other whose teacher enrolled in a 6-week coaching cycle focusing on student centered goals around two effective mathematics teaching practices. The purpose of this action research project was to determine if using the systematic phonics program Making Reading Heavenly would have an impact on student fluency and accuracy in reading. For five weeks, the researcher introduced a new phonics lesson each day, where students learn and practice a new skill. With each new lesson, students continued to practice skills learned in previous lessons. Each Monday, the teacher-researcher assessed student fluency and accuracy using reading passages from a benchmark leveling kit.
