The Eyes Of Csr: Creating A Consulting Methodology To Bring Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility Into Established Organizations, Raven V. Brookes-Mcdougall

Student Theses and Dissertations

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has become a crucial aspect of the corporate mindset, driven by the increasing demand for ethical and sustainable practices. Despite the strong business case for its implementation, CSR deployment often lacks strategic direction. This capstone project, titled "The Eyes of CSR: Creating a Consulting Methodology to Bring Strategic Corporate Social Responsibility into Established Organizations," aims to develop a universally applicable framework for integrating CSR into established organizations. This will be achieved through an extensive literature review that explores the multifaceted nature of CSR, including its history, benefits, challenges, criticisms, and various approaches.

The resulting framework emphasizes …

The Artist As Surveillant: The Use Of Surveillance Technology In Contemporary Art, Claire O'Neill Jan 2023

The Artist As Surveillant: The Use Of Surveillance Technology In Contemporary Art, Claire O'Neill

MA Theses

Artists have long been called observers, voyeurs, and watchers, and with a
/="/">particular interest in human behavior and society, they frequently use unknowing
/="/">passersby as their subjects for works. Curators and scholars explored how artists put citizens under surveillance with photography and videography, which dates back to the early 1900s, years before governments deployed surveillance systems. Since the 1980s, artists have explicitly explored surveillance technology and theory to alert viewers to the rise of surveillance. Today, this genre is called artveillance, a term coined by Andrea Mubi Brighenti in 2010 to categorize art that explicitly deals with surveillance. …

Privacy At Work: A Review And A Research Agenda For A Contested Terrain, Devasheesh P. Bhave, Laurel H. Teo, Reeshad S. Dalal Jan 2020

Privacy At Work: A Review And A Research Agenda For A Contested Terrain, Devasheesh P. Bhave, Laurel H. Teo, Reeshad S. Dalal

Research Collection Lee Kong Chian School Of Business

Privacy in the workplace is a pivotal concern for employees and employers. Employees expect to be in control of the personal information and access they provide to the organization. Employers, however, expect extensive information regarding their employees as well as extensive access to employees’ presence. The chasm between these two often competing expectations has been magnified by regulatory and technological trends. We begin the review by integrating viewpoints from multiple disciplines to disentangle definitions of privacy and to delineate the privacy contexts of information privacy and work environment privacy. We then identify the key stakeholders of privacy in the workplace …

50 Years Of Economic Instruction In The Journal Of Economic Education, Gail M. Hoyt, Kimmarie Mcgoldrick Jan 2019

50 Years Of Economic Instruction In The Journal Of Economic Education, Gail M. Hoyt, Kimmarie Mcgoldrick

Economics Faculty Publications

With 2019 marking the fiftieth year of publication of the Journal of Economic Education (JEE), it seems fitting to examine the evolution of economic instruction as portrayed in the Journal. Born of the American Economic Association (AEA), and first edited by members of the AEA’s Committee on Economic Education (Saunders 2012), it is not surprising that the Journal’s focus as chronicler, proponent, and outlet for economic education activity reflects the educational component of the American Economic Association’s mission. The creation of the Journal signaled a self-awareness in the discipline that we needed to be more deliberate in …

The Influence Of The Physical Workspace On Creative Performance: Alternative Mediation Models, Reed James Bramble Jan 2017

The Influence Of The Physical Workspace On Creative Performance: Alternative Mediation Models, Reed James Bramble

Wayne State University Theses

The present study assessed how individuals respond to stimuli in their immediate work environment. Specifically, I conducted a laboratory experiment with a student sample to test the influence of natural stimuli in the workspace on individuals’ creative performance. Additionally, I tested a series of potential mediating variables that could have driven the effect: state positive affect, state openness to experience, and self-regulation of effort. While the results indicated that the hypotheses were broadly unsupported, supplemental analyses revealed that the intervention significantly predicted effort regulation in a high-performing subgroup. Study limitations and recommendations for future directions are discussed.

On February 19, 1942, following the attack on Pearl Harbor and the declaration of war against Japan, President Roosevelt issued Executive Order 9066 which empowered the Secretary of War to exclude any and all persons from designated areas in the United States. Shortly thereafter, some 120,000 civilians of Japanese descent were prohibited from living, working, or traveling on the West Coast. By October 1942, over 100,000 evacuees were relocated and confined to ten remote internment camps for the duration of the war. The War Relocation Authority (WRA) administered these camps and had the responsibility to feed, house, educate, and provide …

The Ethical Perceptions Of Salespeople And Sales Managers Concerning The Use Of Gps Tracking Systems To Monitor Salesperson Activity, Scott A. Inks, Terry W. Loe Apr 2005

The Ethical Perceptions Of Salespeople And Sales Managers Concerning The Use Of Gps Tracking Systems To Monitor Salesperson Activity, Scott A. Inks, Terry W. Loe

Faculty Articles

Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) tracking systems are starting to be used by sales organizations to monitor salespeople as they drive their company cars in their territories. This paper examines and compares ethical perceptions of salespeople and sales managers regarding the use of GPS tracking technology. The results of a survey of salespeople and sales managers suggest both sales managers and salespeople perceive the use of such systems as ethical, provided the salesperson is aware of the system's installation and use. The results also indicate that while salespeople perceive the personal use of a company car as unethical, most are likely …
