Empoderamiento - La Cultura, Reclamando Derechos E Identidad Y Expresión Poética En El Valle Del Chota, Hannah Roth

Hannah Roth

Archetypal Energies, "Psychic Politics", And The Transformative Potential Of The Health Care Debate, carroy u. ferguson 2010 UMass Boston

Archetypal Energies, "Psychic Politics", And The Transformative Potential Of The Health Care Debate, Carroy U. Ferguson

Carroy U "Cuf" Ferguson, Ph.D.

In a previous message, I spoke of “Archetypal Energies, The Emergence of Obama As A Practical Idealist, and Global Transformation” (February/March 2009). I suggested that at issue is what I called “psychic politics for global transformation, nurtured by practical idealism and the Archetypal Energies.” To reiterate, I have described Archetypal Energies as Higher Vibrational Energies, operating deep within our individual and collective psyches, which have their own transcendent value, purpose, quality, and “voice” unique to the individual. We experience them as “creative urges” to move us toward our Highest Good or Optimal Realities. I use easily recognized terms to evoke …

Proceedings Of The 2009 Nrc Federal Facilities Council/James Madison University Symposium On Protecting Large Facility Complexes;, George H. Baker, Cheryl E. Wilkins

George H Baker

Large, complex facilities pose unique protection challenges involving multidisciplinary expertise and collaboration among government, academia, and the private sector. The symposium served as a forum for sharing experiences in dealing with large facility catastrophic events and risk management. The symposium was organized based on the value of interaction among different people representing diverse disciplines. In many instances, such interactions lead to solutions that would not have been developed within disciplinary stovepipes. The venue was divided into three panels addressing physical security, cyber security, and real facility case studies. We were also privileged to have three keynote speakers including Dr. Charles …

College Of Engineering Senior Design Competition Spring 2010, University Of Nevada, Las Vegas

Senior Projects (COE)

Each student in his or her senior year chooses, plans, designs, and prototypes a product in this required element of the curriculum. The senior design project encourages the student to use everything learned in the engineering program to create a practical, real-world solution to an engineering challenge.

A highlight of the year-long senior design project is the senior design competition. This competition, which usually takes place the week before finals each semester, helps focus the senior students on increasing the quality and potential for commercial application for their design projects.

Judges from local industry evaluate the projects on innovation, commercial …

Kentucky Coming Late To Battle For Soul Of Charter Schools Movement, Richard E. Day 2010 Eastern Kentucky University

Kentucky Coming Late To Battle For Soul Of Charter Schools Movement, Richard E. Day

Curriculum and Instruction Faculty and Staff Scholarship

Around the time charter schools first began to appear in Minnesota, Kentucky was neck-deep in the Kentucky Education Reform Act, the most sweeping set of school reforms undertaken by any state at any one time. As a result, there was little interest on the part of the legislature, or the press for that matter, in allowing Kentucky schools to veer from the KERA's path. Everybody's hands were full. The new law was already being attacked from the right and supporters worried there might not be enough votes to sustain KERA in 1996. Meanwhile, the Patton administration took the position that …

The Need For Positive Behavior Supports In Schools, Kaitlin Daly 2010 St. John Fisher University

The Need For Positive Behavior Supports In Schools, Kaitlin Daly

Education Masters

Student misbehavior can be a hindrance to the educational process in a school. Undesirable behavior may distract pupils from a lesson, teachers from instruction, administrators from other duties, and the offender from his or her own learning. Often, a misbehaving student is removed from the classroom or school building. This approach to managing student behavior is not effective in the long term, as studies show individuals do not benefit from exclusion from instruction. Adults in a school building must look into ways to support students in learning how to behave appropriately. In addition to clearly communicated behavioral expectations and consequences, …
