Application Of The Theory Of Planned Behaviour To Career Choice: The Role Of An Improved Measure Of Emotion, Saveta Tegova 2010 Edith Cowan University

Application Of The Theory Of Planned Behaviour To Career Choice: The Role Of An Improved Measure Of Emotion, Saveta Tegova

Theses : Honours

Adherents of the Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB) propose that intention to perform behaviour can be predicted by attitudes, subjective norms and perceived behavioural control. Recent studies, however, have indicated that the standard TPB predictor variables account for 28% to 40% of the variance in intention, leaving a considerable percentage of the variance in intentions to be explained. Attitude is traditionally measured by the valence associated with the intention. The present study employed an improved measure of attitude, including both emotional dimensions of valence and arousal (Bradley & Lang, 1999), rather than using valence alone, and tested whether this enhanced measure ...

Arms Control And The New Strategic Concept, Jeffrey D. Mccausland

Faculty and Staff Publications By Year

Thucydides noted in his history of the Peloponnesian Wars that a primary motivator of Athenian foreign policy was “interests”. This remains as true today as it was in ancient Greece. Modern policymakers would all agree that strategy must be consistent with national interests and built on three variables. First, what are the ‘ends’ of a strategy that a nation seeks to accomplish alone or in concert with friends and allies? Second, what are the ‘ways’ or policies that are formulated to move the nation towards a better future? Finally, what are the ‘means’ available to any nation that can be ...

Saudi Arabia, Southern Arabia And The Gulf States From The First World War, David Commins

Faculty and Staff Publications By Year

The aftermath of the First World War brought a new political order to the entire Middle East, including Arabia. The Ottoman Empire’s collapse ended its role in Arabian affairs while Great Britain reached the peak of its influence. For launching the Arab revolt against the Ottomans, Sharīf Ḥusayn of Mecca received British support to establish the Hashemite kingdom of the Ḥijāz. The resurgent Sa'udī emirate led by 'Abd al-'Azīz ibn Sa'ud had wrested al-Aḥsā' from the Ottomans in 1913 and continued expanding after the war, conquering the Rashīdī emirate of Jabal Shammar in 1921 and the ...
