Local Fractional Laplace’S Transform Based Local Fractional Calculus, Yang Xiaojun 2011 China University of Mining & Technology

Local Fractional Laplace’S Transform Based Local Fractional Calculus, Yang Xiaojun

Xiao-Jun Yang

In this paper, a new modeling for the local fractional Laplace’s transform based on the local fractional calculus is proposed in fractional space. The properties of the local fractional Laplace’s transform are obtained and an illustrative example for the local fractional system is investigated in detail.

Fundamentals Of Local Fractional Iteration Of The Continuously Nondifferentiable Functions Derived Form Local Fractional Calculus, Yang Xiaojun

Xiao-Jun Yang

A new possible modeling for the local fractional iteration process is proposed in this paper. Based on the local fractional Taylor’s series, the fundamentals of local fractional iteration of the continuously non-differentiable functions are derived from local fractional calculus in fractional space.

Local Fractional Integral Transforms, Yang X 2011 China University of Mining & Technology

Local Fractional Integral Transforms, Yang X

Xiao-Jun Yang

Over the past ten years, the local fractional calculus revealed to be a useful tool in various areas ranging from fundamental science to various engineering applications, because it can deal with local properties of non-differentiable functions defined on fractional sets. In fractional spaces, a basic theory of number and local fractional continuity of non-differentiable functions are presented, local fractional calculus of real and complex variables is introduced. Some generalized spaces, such as generalized metric spaces, generalized normed linear spaces, generalized Banach’s spaces, generalized inner product spaces and generalized Hilbert spaces, are introduced. Elemental introduction to Yang-Fourier transforms, Yang-Laplace transforms ...

In the inverse stationary transport problem through anisotropic attenuating, scattering, and refractive media, the albedo operator stably determines the gauge equivalent class of the attenuation and scattering coefficients.

Spatial Isomorphisms Of Algebras Of Truncated Toeplitz Operators, Stephan Ramon Garcia, William T. Ross, Warren R. Wogen 2011 Pomona College

Spatial Isomorphisms Of Algebras Of Truncated Toeplitz Operators, Stephan Ramon Garcia, William T. Ross, Warren R. Wogen

Pomona Faculty Publications and Research

We examine when two maximal abelian algebras in the truncated Toeplitz operators are spatially isomorphic. This builds upon recent work of N. Sedlock, who obtained a complete description of the maximal algebras of truncated Toeplitz operators.

Analysis Of The Dpg Method For The Poisson Equation, Leszek Demkowicz, Jay Gopalakrishnan 2011 University of Texas at Austin

Analysis Of The Dpg Method For The Poisson Equation, Leszek Demkowicz, Jay Gopalakrishnan

Mathematics and Statistics Faculty Publications and Presentations

We give an error analysis of the recently developed DPG method applied to solve the Poisson equation and a convection-dffusion problem. We prove that the method is quasioptimal. Error estimates in terms of both the mesh size h and the polynomial degree p (for various element shapes) can be derived from our results. Results of extensive numerical experiments are also presented.

Theory Of "Art" : Qualitative In Nature And Quaintintative In Practice, Richard Merritt 2011 Marshall University

Theory Of "Art" : Qualitative In Nature And Quaintintative In Practice, Richard Merritt

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

The primary focus of this work is to discuss the mechanical action of the Marshall Differential Analyzer ("ART") in a mathematical context. Differential Analyzers are primarily used to calculate the solutions to Differential Equations. A full account of the uses of Marshall's Differential Analyzer is given. Furthermore, a pure mathematical justification of how the machine integrates (mechanical integration) is provided via an application of the Riemann Integral. Many simple example problems are detailed ultimately leading up to the calculation of nonlinear problems, more specifically, a nonlinear oscillator.

Statistical Properties Of A Convoluted Beta-Weibull Distribution, Jianan Sun 2011 Marshall University

Statistical Properties Of A Convoluted Beta-Weibull Distribution, Jianan Sun

Theses, Dissertations and Capstones

A new class of distributions recently developed involves the logit of the beta distribution. Among this class of distributions are the beta-normal (Eugene et.al. (2002)); beta-Gumbel (Nadarajah and Kotz (2004)); beta-exponential (Nadarajah and Kotz (2006)); beta-Weibull (Famoye et al. (2005)); beta-Rayleigh (Akinsete and Lowe (2008)); beta-Laplace (Kozubowski and Nadarajah (2008)); and beta-Pareto (Akinsete et al. (2008)), among a few others. Many useful statistical properties arising from these distributions and their applications to real life data have been discussed in the literature. One approach by which a new statistical distribution is generated is by the transformation of random variables having ...

The Mathematical Landscape, Antonio Collazo 2011 Claremont McKenna College

The Mathematical Landscape, Antonio Collazo

CMC Senior Theses

The intent of this paper is to present the reader will enough information to spark a curiosity in to the subject. By no means is the following a complete formulation of any of the topics covered. I want to give the reader a tour of the mathematical landscape. There are plenty of further details to explore in each section, I have just touched the tip the iceberg. The work is basically in four sections: Numbers, Geometry, Functions, Sets and Logic, which are the basic building blocks of Math. The first sections are a exposition into the mathematical objects and their ...

Zero Knowledge Protocols, Caitlin Bonnar 2011 University of Redlands

Zero Knowledge Protocols, Caitlin Bonnar

Undergraduate Honors Theses

In this day and age, it is commonplace to spend part of our day on the Internet. Whether to check e-mail, purchase goods, manage a bank account, or merely browse interesting sites, we rely on certain security measures to keep personal information safe from unwanted outsiders. Within the field of cryptography there are many techniques and algorithms that have provided top-notch security for our methods of communication today, yet as technology advances and as loopholes are found, we are constantly looking for novel ways to protect our information. Introduced approximately 25 years ago by Goldwasser, Micali, and Rackoff, zero knowledge ...

A Comparative Analysis Of The Origin And Divine Causation Of Death In Ancient Near Eastern Literature And In The Old Testament, Lazarus Castang 2011 Andrews University

A Comparative Analysis Of The Origin And Divine Causation Of Death In Ancient Near Eastern Literature And In The Old Testament, Lazarus Castang

Dissertations

The present dissertation attempts a comparative analysis of both the origin of death in the creation accounts and the divine causation of death in the main flood accounts in the ancient Near Eastern (ANE) literature and the Hebrew Old Testament (OT). Both literatures are examined for their implicit or explicit conceptions of the origin and divine causation of death. The origin of death in the ANE literature is located in the Egyptian Osirian myth and the Mesopotamian Enki-Ninmah myth, Enûma Elish, Epic of Gilgamesh, and the Adapa legend. The divine causation of death is studied in the Eridu Genesis, Atra-Hasis ...

Completeness Of Ordered Fields, James Forsythe Hall 2010 California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo

Completeness Of Ordered Fields, James Forsythe Hall

Mathematics

The main goal of this project is to prove the equivalency of several characterizations of completeness of Archimedean ordered fields; some of which appear in most modern literature as theorems following from the Dedekind completeness of the real numbers, while a couple are not as well known and have to do with other areas of mathematics, such as nonstandard analysis. Continuing, we study the completeness of non-Archimedean fields, and provide several examples of such fields with varying degrees of properties, using nonstandard analysis to produce some relatively "nice" (in particular, they are Cantor complete) final examples. As a small detour ...
