Acute Consumption Of A Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Impairs Microvascular Function In Midwestern Hispanic Males, Emma Hirshman, Anne R. Crecelius

Health and Sport Science Faculty Publications

Hispanic males are at risk for cardiovascular disease and consume high levels of sugar-sweetened beverages (SSB); yet, their acute vascular response to SSBs is unknown. Ten healthy Hispanic men (18-45 years old) consumed a SSB and reactive hyperemia was performed prior to, immediately following, and 1-hr post-consumption. Both peak and total (area under the curve) forearm blood flow were attenuated immediately following consumption but returned to at or above pre-consumption levels at the 1-hr test.

Eurasian Journal of Sport Science

Purpose: This article presents a comparative analysis of the results of special physical training of athletes in the types of short-distance running to determine the level of development of special physical training with the help of pedagogical tests and their results obtained at the beginning and end of the study, and on the basis of the results obtained, scientific research.

Methods: We drew attention to the fact that short-distance runners determine the degree of formation of their special physical training with the help of the following pedagogical tests. When determining the speed and strength qualities of short-distance runners, we focused ...

The Compositional Structure Of The Body Of Young Football Players 13-14 Years Old, Damir Ismagilov Kanganovich 2021 Uzbekistan state university of physical education and sport, Chirchik, Uzbekistan

The Compositional Structure Of The Body Of Young Football Players 13-14 Years Old, Damir Ismagilov Kanganovich

Eurasian Journal of Sport Science

Purpose: The data obtained by bio impedance analysis allows us to assess the state of fitness at the examination stage. The differences in each stage of the survey allows us to compare the data and thereby get an idea of the rationality of using the means of the educational and training process and nutrition.

Methods: The survey of football players aged 13-14 years was conducted using “Xiaomi Composition Scale” smart scales, as well as a bio impedance method, a pedagogical experiment, a method of mathematical statistics (arithmetic mean, quadratic mean, coefficient of variation).

Results: The body fat mass averaged 7 ...

Stretching After An In-Water Warm-Up Does Not Acutely Improve Sprint Freestyle Swim Performance In Diii Collegiate Swimmers, Haven L. Westra, Alexander H.K. Montoye 2021 Alma College

Stretching After An In-Water Warm-Up Does Not Acutely Improve Sprint Freestyle Swim Performance In Diii Collegiate Swimmers, Haven L. Westra, Alexander H.K. Montoye

Topics in Exercise Science and Kinesiology

Topics in Exercise Science and Kinesiology Volume 2: Issue 1, Article 11, 2021. Stretching, as part of a warm-up prior to competition, has been used as a method to enhance performance in swimming and other sports, but its efficacy as a potential ergogenic aid remains understudied. This study’s purpose was to determine if acute static stretching or a dynamic warm-up, following an in-water swim-specific warm-up, improved sprint freestyle swim performance in collegiate swimmers. NCAA Division III swimmers (n=15, 67% female) participated in three testing protocols. In each protocol, participants did an in-water warm up and either a dynamic ...

Assessing A Novel Adaptation To Cci Devices To Model Human Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, William R. Kochen, Kristen Craven, Rachel E. Barkey, Jane M. Flinn, David D. Cerri 2021 Nova Southeastern University

Assessing A Novel Adaptation To Cci Devices To Model Human Mild Traumatic Brain Injury, William R. Kochen, Kristen Craven, Rachel E. Barkey, Jane M. Flinn, David D. Cerri

NeuroSports

Background: Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBIs) are a health crisis with over a million people suffering injuries each year in the United States. The majority of TBIs are mild injuries which often produce no period of unconsciousness and no gross damage to the brain or skull. A range of TBI animal models exist but many produce injuries too severe to characterize as mild. One TBI induction method commonly used is Controlled Cortical Impact (CCI) devices.

New Method: The purpose of this study is to assess a novel adaptation to CCI devices that allows for the induction of mild injuries that mimic ...
