Psychosocial Outcomes Of Orthopedic Injuries: An Analysis Of The Relationship Between The Athlete And The Athletic Trainer, Hannah Barnett 2022 Bridgewater College

Psychosocial Outcomes Of Orthopedic Injuries: An Analysis Of The Relationship Between The Athlete And The Athletic Trainer, Hannah Barnett

Honors Projects

An analysis on the impact of the level of social support from athletic trainers on the outcomes of orthopedic injuries in athletes. The foundational model for this research is Wiese-Bjornstal’s Integrated Model (1998). This model examines the effect of athletes’ emotional responses on their recovery. Social support from the athletic trainer can help mediate negative emotional responses and encourage positive emotional responses, which is why social support is crucial to recovery. Athletes with higher levels of perceived social support from their athletic trainers had more success with rehabilitation. This report consists of a review of the existing literature on psychosocial …

The Rationale Behind And Impact Of One Hospital’S Provision Of Secondary School Athletic Training Services: A Five-Year Case Study, Caroline E. Faure EdD; ATC 2022 Idaho State University

The Rationale Behind And Impact Of One Hospital’S Provision Of Secondary School Athletic Training Services: A Five-Year Case Study, Caroline E. Faure Edd; Atc

Internet Journal of Allied Health Sciences and Practice

Purpose: Sports-related injuries are common and often require physician or hospital care. Since the advent of concussion laws in fifty states, hospitals across the country have come forward to partner with secondary schools in the provision of sports medicine healthcare. The outreach agreements are consistent: Hospitals hire athletic trainers (ATs) and then outsource them to schools. ATs help mitigate risk in sports programs. Onsite at the schools daily, ATs provide immediate evaluation and treatment for injuries that occur and render decisions regarding the appropriateness of an injured athlete’s return to participation. The goal of this case study was to describe …

Attenuated Lower Limb Stretch-Shorten-Cycle Capacity In Acl Injured Vs. Non-Injured Female Alpine Ski Racers: Not Just A Matter Of Between-Limb Asymmetry, Matthew J. Jordan, Nathaniel Morris, Sophia Nimphius, Per Aagaard, Walter Herzog 2022 Edith Cowan University

Research outputs 2022 to 2026

A retrospective analysis of routine countermovement jump (CMJ) testing, a coupled eccentric-concentric (stretch-shorten-cycle: SSC) movement, was performed in female elite alpine skiers with anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction (ACLR) and without ACLR. A total of 567 tests obtained from the daily training environment were analyzed in 41 elite female athletes (non-injured control: n = 30, ACLR: n = 17), including n = 6 athletes with pre-injury data, between 16 and 32 years of age from alpine ski racing (n = 32) and skier cross (n = 9). Bilateral CMJ testing was conducted on a dual force plate system, and the …

Baltic Journal of Health and Physical Activity

Dental surgeons, maxillofacial surgeons and implantologists are increasingly interested in the effects of vitamin D on bone metabolism and the immune system. The correct concentration of this prohormone potentially correlates with success at each stage of osteointegration of endosseous implants.‪A review of literature related to the topic of the paper.‬‪A suitable level of vitamin D3 is crucial from the day of surgery. It influences the modulation of the immune system – increases the production of cathelicidin and defensin, and reduces the expression of proinflammatory cytokines. It also has a positive effect on bone metabolism in osteo-suppression via the induction of …
