We report a case of a 42-year-old female who presented with lower abdominal/pelvic pain and diagnosed with an active hemorrhagic ovarian cyst after undergoing egg retrieval as part of in-vitro fertilization (IVF) treatment. The differential for abdominal pain in women is vast, but for this patient receiving IVF we had to consider ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and ectopic pregnancy just to name a few examples. It is predictable that most women will suffer from a ruptured ovarian cyst at some point in their lifetime so long as they continue to menstruate.

Background: Current guidelines for pregnant women with substance use disorder advise prenatal maintenance of opioid agonist therapy with either buprenorphine or methadone. Despite this rise in prenatal opioid agonist therapy, little is known about the effect of prenatal buprenorphine on the neurobehavioral development of the child. This poses the question: does buprenorphine have a long-lasting effect on the central and peripheral nervous system development and behavior of children who were exposed prenatally?

Placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) is a rare complication of pregnancy in which the placenta abnormally implants into, and in rarer cases, through the uterine wall which leads to increased maternal morbidity with risk of maternal mortality. PAS diagnosed at the time of delivery is associated with severe maternal morbidity largely due to elevated blood loss which can result in complications such as DIC and even maternal death. We investigated the relationship of maternal adiponectin concentration and GWG during different pregnancy stages among ethnic groups. OBJECTIVE: To determine if there is value in culturing a metaphase I oocyte to metaphase II followed by intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI), fertilization, then embryo transfer (ET) in women with marked DOR. MATERIALS AND METHODS: A follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) receptor up-regulation technique was used in women whose day 3 serum FSH levels were >12 mIU/mL and/or the serum anti-mullerian (AMH) level was <1ng/mL to mature antral follicle(s) to the dominant follicle stage (average diameter >18) and serum estradiol (E2) >200pg/mL when 10,000 IU human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) would be given followed by oocyte retrieval 32 hours later. Uterine torsions are very rare. In an article by Matsumoto et al published in 2021, only 25 cases have been documented on PubMed in non-gravid females in the past 20 years. Uterine torsion is defined as rotation of the uterus greater than 45 degrees in the long axis. Rotation can occur anywhere between 45 degrees to 180 degrees. The torsion can be due to a congenital anomaly or an obstetrics emergency such as with an ovarian torsion. These individuals are diagnosed with high blood pressure (after 20 weeks of gestation), proteinuria/end-stage organ disease, and may include seizures. Introduction: A growing body of research suggests that an infants’ admission to a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is associated with adverse maternal mental health outcomes. Maternal attitudes, adjustment to motherhood, social support, and health behaviors may be important modifiable factors that could improve quality of life and well-being among NICU mothers. The current study examined the relationships among maternal attitudes, adjustment to motherhood, health behaviors, social support, and psychological functioning in NICU mothers.

Radiation cystitis (RC) is a debilitating adverse side effect of pelvic radiation therapy. Despite advancements within the field of radiation oncology, the location of the bladder makes it difficult to avoid during radiation and approximately 5-10% of cancer survivors with a history of pelvic radiation are at risk. While RC is not common, the long-term effects can be crippling and we hope to provide more information on the risk factors to help survivors and inform clinicians.

Background: Globally, cervical cancer is a major public health problem, with about 604,000 new cases and over 340,000 deaths in 2020. In Kenya, it is the leading cause of cancer deaths, with over 3,000 women dying in 2020 alone. Both the Kenyan cancer screening guidelines and the World Health Organization’s Global Cervical Cancer Elimination Strategy recommend human papillomavirus (HPV) testing as the primary screening test. This is a report of a 36-year-old female who presented with severe, acute onset pelvic pain and prominent bruising on her left groin area following intercourse. Transvaginal ultrasound revealed the presence of a left ovarian cyst and lack of arterial blood flow to the left ovary, indicating the possibility of a left ovarian torsion. The patient underwent diagnostic laparoscopy with left oophorectomy. However, during the procedure an aberrant vessel was identified branching from the left IP ligament, running through the inguinal canal, and terminating at the anterior abdominal wall.
