Financiación Por Promotores De Vivendas Asequibles Para La Clase Trabajadora Mediante Impuestos Y Recuperación De Plusvalías: Una Comparación De Los Enfoques Estadounidense Y Español, Julian Conrad Juergensmeyer
Julian C. Juergensmeyer

The Ethics Of Wildlife Control In Humanized Landscapes, John Hadidian, Camilla H. Fox, William S. Lynn
William S. Lynn, PhD
The 21st century is witness to an unprecedented and rapid growth of human settlements, from urban centers to wilderness vacation resorts. Concurrent with this has been the growing tolerance and acceptance of many wild animals and humans for one another. This has created an expanding ‘zone’ of human-animal contacts, some number of which invariably result in conflicts. While the vast majority of our interactions with wild animals are undoubtedly benign, it is the conflict between wildlife and people that draws particularly close attention from the public. Animals viewed as vertebrate “pests” range from the small to the large, the timid …

Distinctly Cleveland: How The Arts Are Helping To Revitalize Rust Belt Cities, Gregory M. Sadlek, Joan Chase
Gregory M Sadlek
This book addresses many of the common reasons why the so-called “Rust Belt” cities suffered decline and the many solutions proposed and efforts already undertaken that seek to reverse the decline and spur rejuvenation. The contributors discuss the reasons for the decline including globalization, energy policy–related issues, and even the impact of air conditioning on location decisions. They also detail many of the entrepreneurial efforts undertaken in cities like Cleveland that are helping to reinvigorate once-depressed areas, offer suggestions related to investments in workforce training and current energy policy, critique the use of economic development subsidies, discuss the success of …

In the sunset of the 1990s and beginning of the Millennium, historic designation of properties has become an important tool increasingly used to preserve cultural heritage, revive central-city neighborhoods, and stimulate community economic development. Many academic studies illustrated that historic preservation has a positive impact on property values (Zahirovic-Herbert and Chatterjee, 2010; Leicheanko et al., 1999; Clark and Herrin, 1997; Schaeffer and Millerick, 1991).1 Since 2005, historic preservation became part of the sustainable growth concept emphasizing property values, the reuse of historic buildings, integration of culture and multi-functional landscapes, and environmental stewardship. There is a scarcity of literature measuring direct …

Evaluating The Policy–Practice Gap In A Transitional Housing Program An Innovation In Process Evaluation, Jessica Perez, Anaid Yerena

In the United States, in 2013, 610,042 people were estimated homeless in one night. Improving the effectiveness of homeless assistance programs, particularly aligning programs’ practices with their goals, is critical to serving this population. Using a theory that predicts homeless exits, this study presents an innovative, low-cost evaluation tool that can be used by a wide range of human service providers to conduct more frequent “in-house” process evaluations. The Gap Assessment of Policy and Practice (GAPP) tool streamlines process evaluations thus improving social programs. To test this tool’s effectiveness, we compared the results of a traditional process evaluation and a …
