This report presents an analysis of the economic impact of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s John H. Glenn Research Center (NASA Glenn) during its fiscal year (FY) 2016. It uses an input-output model, which reflects the buy-sell relationships among industries, the household sector, and the government sector in a region, to estimate the effect of NASA Glenn’s spending on the economies of both Northeast Ohio and the state of Ohio.
This model assesses economic impact in terms of growth in total output (sales); value added (output less intermediary goods); household earnings, number of new and supported jobs, and taxes. …

The impact of theater is traditionally discussed in the emotion someone feels from seeing a live show on stage or the nostalgia of remembering the experience of seeing one’s favorite movie come to life for the first time. This report measures the economic impact of early-stage companies that were supported in the past by JumpStart Inc. and its partners in the Northeast Ohio Entrepreneurial Service Provider Program (ESP) in 2016. The ESP is a collaborative entrepreneurial support network funded in part by Ohio Third Frontier that includes accelerators, incubators, angel funds, and other organizations dedicated to commercializing technologies and fostering promising entrepreneurial ventures in Northeast Ohio. The companies included in this report have received significant technical assistance and/or direct investment funding from entrepreneurial support organizations in the ESP.

The Greater University Circle Economic Inclusion Initiative is a unique multi-anchor, place-based effort to revitalize the seven neighborhoods that comprise Greater University Circle (GUC) in Cleveland, Ohio. Convened in 2005 by the Cleveland Foundation, it involves three anchor institutions: The Cleveland Clinic, Case Western Reserve University and University Hospitals Health System, along with the city of Cleveland and many other partners. This report presents an analysis of the local economic impact of the MetroHealth System’s campus transformation. The MetroHealth System (“MHS”) Board of Trustees endorsed a campus transformation plan for an $855 million capital project, which includes cost projections for various aspects of the project, including design, construction, and equipment. The transformation plan covers a period of nine years spanning 2015 to 2023. The project involves several new buildings, including a 12-story hospital, a large parking garage, and a central utility plant. The transformation also calls for demolishing outdated buildings to increase the hospital campus’ greenspace and improve its network of …

The summer of 2014 was an exciting time full of announcements and transitions for the City of Cleveland, marking the return of LeBron James to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Republican National Committee selecting Cleveland to host the 2016 RNC Convention. Two years later, 2016 saw the Cavaliers win the city’s first major sports championship in 52 years; just four weeks later, July 18-21, the City hosted its first Republican National Convention in 80 years.
