The Nasa Glenn Research Center: An Economic Impact Study Fiscal Year 2018, Iryna Lendel, Jinhee Yun

Economic impact estimates the benefits within the regional economy generated by an economic activity of an entity for an affected region. This study uses an input-output (I-O) model to estimate the effect of NASA Glenn Research Center’s spending on the economies of Northeast Ohio (NEO) and Ohio. This model measures economic impact in terms of growth in output (sales), value added (output less intermediary goods), number of new and supported jobs, labor income, and tax revenues.

This report analyzes the potential economic impact of La Villa Hispana’s construction and operation proposed in the Clark‐Fulton neighborhood of Cleveland, the home to the densest population of Hispanic residents in the State of Ohio. We separately estimate the economic impact of El Mercado, one of the foundational projects of the La Villa Hispana development. The economic impacts are assessed on the City of Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, and the State of Ohio.

BorderLight International Theater Festival is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established to launch a summer festival of contemporary international theater in Cleveland beginning in July 2019. Co-directors Dale Heinen and Jeffrey Pence have spearheaded BorderLight’s inception and programming. BorderLight is conceptualized in its debut form as a four-day international theater festival located in Cleveland, Ohio.1 It will include curated performances by international, national, and local artists—as well as an independent fringe festival—and will focus on engagement with underserved audiences and communities.2 This makes BorderLight a bifurcated theater festival, which is a combination of a curated and uncurated festival whereby some content is …

This report measures the economic impact of early-stage companies that were supported in the past by JumpStart Inc. and its partners in the Northeast Ohio Entrepreneurial Service Provider Program (ESP) in 2016. The ESP is a collaborative entrepreneurial support network funded in part by Ohio Third Frontier that includes accelerators, incubators, angel funds, and other organizations dedicated to commercializing technologies and fostering promising entrepreneurial ventures in Northeast Ohio. The companies included in this report have received significant technical assistance and/or direct investment funding from entrepreneurial support organizations in the ESP.

The summer of 2014 was an exciting time full of announcements and transitions for the City of Cleveland, marking the return of LeBron James to the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Republican National Committee selecting Cleveland to host the 2016 RNC Convention. Two years later, 2016 saw the Cavaliers win the city’s first major sports championship in 52 years; just four weeks later, July 18-21, the City hosted its first Republican National Convention in 80 years.

This report assesses the economic impact of Cleveland State University on the five-county Cleveland metropolitan area. The study was conducted by the Center for Economic Development at Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs. The economic impact of the university operations is based on FY2013 data (July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013), which was the most recent completed fiscal year for which data was available at the start of this study. The economic impacts of the capital expenditures are based on FY2009-2013 spending.

NASA Glenn is located at Lewis Field, a 300-acre site adjacent to Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. NASA Glenn’s physical plant includes more than 150 buildings that contain a unique collection of world-class laboratories and test facilities. Since the groundbreaking for the Aircraft Engine Research Laboratory of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (forerunner to NASA) on January 23, 1941, more than $680 million has been invested in NASA Glenn’s physical plant. The estimated replacement cost is approximately $2.6 billion. The Lewis Field site and its Plum Brook Station, located in Sandusky, Ohio, is 50 miles west of Cleveland, each host …

This report summarizes the findings of an in-depth study of the manufacturing sector in the Greater Northeastern/Northern region of Pennsylvania. The objective of the first section is to draw attention to the role manufacturing plays in the regional economy. It compares manufacturing to other sectors of the economy in terms of employment, gross regional product, wages, productivity, and number of establishments (See Table E-1). The Center for Economic Development (the Center) at the Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University prepared this report for LAND studio. The objective of this report is to present an economic impact of the green infrastructure maintenance of the future green infrastructure investments that the Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORSD) will undertake. The services provided to entrepreneurs through funding and mentoring between 2004 and 2008 by the Civic Innovation Lab resulted in the following economic impacts for 2008: output impact of $9.4 million; employment impact of 128 jobs; income (household earnings) impact of $4.1 million; and a tax impact of 1.2 million ($454,000 in state and local and $734,000 in federal).
