Designing A School Garden Space That Emphasizes Children's Wants And Uses Permaculture Design Methods, Mikhaela Mullins

A case study was organized at Saratoga Elementary school in Lincoln, Nebraska to obtain data on what children desire in a garden space. To collect this data a school garden space was constructed and an after school garden club was implemented. Students who participated in the after school garden club partook in the study by drawing their ideal garden. Elements that the subjects drew were identified and categorized into ‘highly desired’ and ‘somewhat desired’.

These elements were then incorporated into a proposed garden design plan for Saratoga. The proposal plan uses Permaculture design methods to emphasize sustainability.

This study investigates the daily lives of Mapuche women who have migrated from the south of Chile to the city of Reñaca in the north and more specifically, how they’re lives as women have changed from living in a rural area to an urban one. This study also investigates urban Mapuche women and their relation to the Chilean government, with specific emphasis on political organizations such as the National Women’s Service, the Foundation for the Promotion and Development of Women, and the National Corporation for Indigenous Development. The purpose of this report is to show the results of a partnership between the Town of Hatfield Massachusetts, and the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional Planning at the University of Massachusetts.

The Town of Hatfield initially approached the University for assistance in understanding the options available for Greenway development in Hatfield, while maintaining the charm and character the town is proud of.
