Archetypal Energies, The Emergence Of Obama As A Practical Idealist, And Global Transformation, Carroy U. Ferguson
Carroy U "Cuf" Ferguson, Ph.D.
During this time of change, AHP and kindred spirits on the edge have important roles to play. We are the keepers and nurturers of a transformative and evolutionary Vision for Consciousness and a more humane world. At issue is what I will call the “psychic politics” for global transformation, nurtured by practical idealism and the Archetypal Energies. In other writings, I have described Archetypal Energies as Higher Vibrational Energies, operating deep within our individual and collective psyches, which have their own transcendent value, purpose, quality, and “voice”, unique to the individual. We experience them as “creative urges” to move us …

Households with one or more residents age 65 and over make up 47% of the Neighborhood Naturally Occurring Retirement Community (NNORC) of Albany, New York. This two-square-mile area is served by a NNORC interfaith partnership of several religious, health, educational and other community service organizations providing supportive services, social activities, and enhanced access to health and social services. This survey was designed to identify potential areas of need requiring new or expanded services. A total of 226 NNORC residents age 60 and over completed questionnaires measuring demographics, aspects of health, help-seeking, mastery, loneliness, health locus of control, and psychological distress. …

Cognitive-Behavioral Model, Randy Magen
Cognitive-Behavioral Model, Randy Magen
Randy Howard Magen
In the 1970s the first articles and books appeared, written by social workers, describing the application of behavioral theory to social work with groups (Rose, 1972; Sundel & Lawrence, 1970). Since that time, cognitive-behavioral theory has become one of the dominant perspectives guiding group work practice. The compatibility between evidence-based practice and cognitive-behaviorally based interventions assures the place of this theory at the forefront of group work.

Objective: This study examines the influence of therapist and youth characteristics on post-discharge outcomes from intensive in-home therapy. Method: Data for 1,416 youth and 412 therapists were obtained from a behavioral health services provider. The Huber–White method was used to account for nested data; ordered logistic regression was employed to assess outcomes. Results: Therapist gender and employment stability were significantly associated with youth outcomes. The likelihood of an undesirable outcome was significantly less for cases with female therapists. Conclusion: Findings underscore the need for additional study concerning the impact of therapist characteristics and stability on youth outcomes, and to improve …

Considerable research has suggested that homeownership imparts a variety of positive individual, family, neighborhood, and community effects. Yet, much of the research to date has failed to examine such effects by level of income [Dietz, R.D., & Haurin, D.R. (2003). The social and private micro-level consequences of homeownership. Journal of Urban Economics, 54(3), 401–450.]. This study adds to the limited research on the impact of assets on parental attitude and behavior among low- and moderate-income (LMI) families. Data used in this study are from the evaluation of Self-Help's Community Advantage Home Loan Secondary Market Program. Specifically, we focus on the …
