In this issue of Focal Point we address the special needs of lesbian and gay youth and their families. The United States Department of Health and Human Services' 1989 Report of the Secretary's Task Force on Youth Suicide defines gay and lesbian youth as those who have a primary attraction to members of the same sex for intimate and sexual relationships (4).
