This study seeks to answer questions on the effects of the presence of surviving children on bereaved parents' grief. Bereaved parents have been shown to be at risk for psychological, social and health related conditions due to the unique type of grief experienced from the loss of a child. Increasing knowledge related to factors that influence how bereaved parents process grief could lead to interventions becoming more appropriate in addressing the specific needs of this population.

The purpose of this study was to determine if parents are involved in services provided for children with mental illnesses or Severely Emotionally Disturbed (SED). Mental health issues are becoming more and more prevalent in youth and adolescents. The study was conducted at Bilingual Family Counseling which provides individual counseling, family counseling, couple/marital counseling, school-based counseling, anger management groups, and support groups for girls.

The study examined the effects of language commonalities between Riverside County Children Services Division (CSD) social workers and parents in their reunification process. The study focused on gathering data to depict whether or not having a social worker that speaks the same language as the parents speak influences reunification success. This study strived to gather data from Mexican parents, as this seems to be a fast growing population that CSD serves. Children's Asthma: Relationship Between Parental Education And Frequency Of Emergency Room Visits, Victorine Natalie Brewer-Benjamin

Examines the relationship between parental education on asthma and the frequency of emergency room visits with their children for asthma incidences. The research was conducted at an acute care hospital in Southern California using a sample of 32 parents. Data was collected using a self-administered survey questionnaire employing a quantitative research design and chi-square test. Results indicate that although parents found education beneficial in controlling their child's asthma, there was no significant correlation between education and frequency of hospitalization and emergency room visits.

In an exploratory study 10 adult children, with at least one identifiable gay or lesbian parent, were interviewed and asked to discuss their childhood experiences growing up in diverse families. Understanding the introspective views of adult children with gay or lesbian parents will allow social workers the ability to tailor services to ensure the needs of these new family constellations are met.

A questionaire was developed and given to post-adoptive parents with the results to be used as a guide to examine what services need to be provided in the pre-adoptive process for parents who are adopting children that are coming from foster homes. The results of the study could be utilized by adoption social workers as a means of targeting typical areas of need or resources for families during the adoption process.

This study was designed to differentiate the significant demographic and familial factors found in families when reunification is successful versus when reunification fails in cases of child removal due to physical abuse and domestic violence. The purpose of this study was to identify which, if any of these factors, lead to successful reunification. Content analysis of adjudicated cases of child abuse in San Bernardino County was used to transform qualitative information into quantitative data.
