Towards Formalizing A Reputation System For Cheating Detection In Peer-To-Peer-Based Massively Multiplayer Online Games, Willy Susilo, Yang-Wai Chow, Rungrat Wiangsripanawan

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

The rapidly growing popularity of Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs) has given rise to an increase in the number of players world wide. MMOGs enable many players interact together through a shared sense of presence created by the game. The Peer-to-Peer (P2P) network topology overcomes communication bottleneck problems associated with centralized client/server sys- tems. Thus, P2P-based MMOGs are seen as the way of the future, and many dierent P2P-based MMOG architectures have been proposed to date. However, many architectures are proposed in an ad hoc manner and enhancing the security of such systems is an elusive research problem. In this …

Simulation Model Of A Grid-Connected Single-Phase Photovoltaic System In Pscad/Emtdc, Brian K. Perera, Sridhar R. Pulikanti, Philip Ciufo, Sarath Perera Jan 2012

Simulation Model Of A Grid-Connected Single-Phase Photovoltaic System In Pscad/Emtdc, Brian K. Perera, Sridhar R. Pulikanti, Philip Ciufo, Sarath Perera

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

In this paper, a complete simulation model of a grid-connected single-phase two-stage photovoltaic (PV) system with associated controllers is presented. The simulation model is developed in PSCAD/EMTDC simulation program. The component models of the grid-connected PV system include a PV array, a dc-dc boost converter, a voltage source converter (VSC) and an LCL filter. Components of the LCL filter, the dc-link capacitor of the VSC and the inductor of the dc-dc boost converter are established theoretically and that are used in modelling the grid-connected PV system. The control architecture of the presented system incorporates a synchronous reference frame phase-locked-loop (s-PLL), …

Computer Aided Decision Support System For Cervical Cancer Classification, - Rahmadwati, Golshah Naghdy, Montserrat B. Ros, Catherine Todd Jan 2012

Computer Aided Decision Support System For Cervical Cancer Classification, - Rahmadwati, Golshah Naghdy, Montserrat B. Ros, Catherine Todd

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Conventional analysis of a cervical histology image, such a pap smear or a biopsy sample, is performed by an expert pathologist manually. This involves inspecting the sample for cellular level abnormalities and determining the spread of the abnormalities. Cancer is graded based on the spread of the abnormal cells. This is a tedious, subjective and timeconsuming process with considerable variations in diagnosis between the experts. This paper presents a computer aided decision support system (CADSS) tool to help the pathologists in their examination of the cervical cancer biopsies. The main aim of the proposed CADSS system is to identify abnormalities …

Underground Coal Mine Delay Data Analysis System, Ernest Y. Baafi, Ian Porter Jan 2012

Underground Coal Mine Delay Data Analysis System, Ernest Y. Baafi, Ian Porter

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Due to the high levels of uncertainty in underground coal mining operations, delays occur regularly which inadvertently reduce the utilisation of mining equipment. In most coal mines delay data is primarily sourced from shift reports, machine monitoring and production systems. The recording process is initiated commonly at the end of a shift to ensure the correct information is recorded for the managerial decision process. An issue that the Australian coal industry faces is the lack of a standardised delay recording process and delay classification system. Tools used within the industry to analyse delay data are mostly mine specific and offer …

Modelling A Longwall Production System Using Flexsim 3d Simulation Software, D Cai, E Baafi, I Porter Jan 2012

Modelling A Longwall Production System Using Flexsim 3d Simulation Software, D Cai, E Baafi, I Porter

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Longwall mining accounts for more than 75% of underground coal production in Australia. It is a popular underground coal mining method worldwide, mainly due to its high extraction ratio, high productivity and increased safety due to improved powered support units. A longwall system requires significant capital investment, and it is necessary to minimise the financial risk associated with this investment. Minimisation of this financial risk requires a sound knowledge of the relationship between underlying operational/technical constraints and associated costs. A discrete simulation model using the Flexsim 3D virtual reality environment has been developed to assist management evaluate the impact of …

Application Of Multi-Agent System For Preventing Power Interruption In A Large Power System, S R. Islam, Darmawan Sutanto, K M. Muttaqi Jan 2012

Application Of Multi-Agent System For Preventing Power Interruption In A Large Power System, S R. Islam, Darmawan Sutanto, K M. Muttaqi

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

This paper presents an emergency control approach for preventing wide spread power interruption using multi-agent system. The proposed control algorithm is based on decentralized architecture of intelligent agents to achieve fast and accurate response when a catastrophic disturbance is identified in the system. By dividing the network into several areas, the voltage instability problem can be localized and countermeasures can be directed to the most affected area by the authorized local agent. This facilitates quick decision making within the system. The effectiveness of the proposed technique has been proved by a simulation of IEEE 57 bus test power system.

A Multi-Agent Solution To Distribution System Management By Considering Distributed Generators, Fenghui Ren, Minjie Zhang, Darmawan Sutanto Jan 2012

A Multi-Agent Solution To Distribution System Management By Considering Distributed Generators, Fenghui Ren, Minjie Zhang, Darmawan Sutanto

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

A traditional distribution network carries electricity from a central power resource to consumers, and the power dispatch is controlled centrally. Distributed generators (DGs) emerge as an alternative power resource to distribution networks at a smaller and distributed scale, which will bring benefits such as reduced voltage drop and loss. However, because most of high penetration DGs are not utility owned and characterized by high degree of uncertainty such as solar and wind, the distribution network may perform differently from the conventionally expected behaviors. How to dynamically and efficiently manage the power dispatch in a distribution network to balance the supply …

X-Tream: A Novel Dosimetry System For Synchrotron Microbeam Radiation Therapy, M Petasecca, A Cullen, I Fuduli, A Espinoza, C Porumb, C Stanton, A H. Aldosari, E Brauer-Krisch, H Requardt, A Bravin, V Perevertaylo, Anatoly B. Rosenfeld, M L. F Lerch

Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences - Papers: Part A

Microbeam Radiation Therapy (MRT) is a radiation treatment technique under development for inoperable brain tumors. MRT is based on the use of a synchrotron generated X-ray beam with an extremely high dose rate ( ~ 20 kGy/sec), striated into an array of X-ray micro-blades. In order to advance to clinical trials, a real-time dosimeter with excellent spatial resolution must be developed for absolute dosimetry. The design of a real-time dosimeter for such a radiation scenario represents a significant challenge due to the high photon flux and vertically striated radiation field, leading to very steep lateral dose gradients. This article analyses …
