This study explored the relationship between Meaning of Work (MOW) in relation to the variables of age, cultural orientation, as well as the combined effect of age and cultural orientation. This study was conducted among 380 individuals in the form of an online survey. The survey to collect data for the study was hosted on www.qualtrics.com and a survey link was created. California State University San Bernardino's Sona-Systems (a research management system) was utilized to recruit students for the study and to award extra credit for research participation.

Preweanling Exposure To Selective Catecholamine Transporter Inhibitors Differentially Effects Morphine-Induced Antinociception In Adulthood, Joseph Marco Valentine

The purpose of this project is to determine how early methylphenidate exposure alters opioid receptor functioning in adulthood. To this end, we will administer selective monoamine transporter inhibitors for dopamine and norepinephrine (GBR-12904 and atomoxetine) during preweanling period and assess opioid function in adult rats by testing morphine-induced antinociception using the hot-plate and tail-flick tasks. In order to assess the effects of methylphenidate use on brain functions during development, investigations have been conducted in rats using ages roughly analogous to early and late childhood.

The purpose of this research project was to gather the perceptions of mental health therapists regarding the effectiveness of providing school-based services to children and adolescents in grades K-12. The methodology used in this study included face-to-face interviews with fourteen mental health therapists from diverse educational backgrounds and various fields of practice.

Self-efficacy, means-efficacy, and locus of control have been found to affect performance. This study was a 2 x 2 x 2 between groups quasi-experiment, in 2 parts, designed to measure interaction between locus of control, self efficacy, and means-efficacy. Participants were 257 students at California State University, San Bernardino aged 18 through 63 years and about half were Hispanic females.

Research in leadership has emphasized the importance of factors like organizational culture, empowerment, and employee innovation. The current study sought to address these topics by considering the contribution of organizational learning culture to employee outcomes, such as psychological empowerment and innovative behaviors, while investigating the moderating effect of transformational leadership. Participants consisted of 387 employed men and women from various organizational backgrounds.

The purpose of this study was to train the parents of an ASD child (who was not receiving prior intervention services) to teach their child to use an Independent Activity Schedule (IAS) to enable him to engage in short periods of appropriate, independent play without adult prompting and/or disruptive, stereotypical behaviors. Teaching the parent (s) to utilize this technique will benefit the child in that his/her parent (s) are usually with him/her and would thus be able to use the IAS with him/her continuously.

The purpose of this study was to demonstrate means-efficacy through mastery experience. Traditionally self-efficacy has been shown to influence an individual's expectation about their performance. Students participated in typing tests with past experience using a high or low quality keyboard. The following study utilized a priori contrasts and one-way ANOVAS to analysis data. One hundred ninety-six students from California State University, San Bernardino participated in the study.

This intervention seeks to increase student's academic grade scores and learning goal orientation in the social studies chapter of Old and New Communities. The participants for this research project were third grade students enrolled at Assumption Catholic School in Los Angeles, California. The sample consisted of 11 third grade children.

The purpose of this study was to test specific hypotheses based on the Young Schema Model (YSM). In this model, poor parenting and traumatic events early in life result in maladaptive behaviors in adulthood. The present study tests the specific prediction that permissive parenting will have an indirect effect to increase procrastination by way of the intervening variables of entitlement/grandiosity and insufficient self-control/self-discipline cognitive schemas.

The purpose of this study was to examine the psychological benefits derived from perceiving one's social group as having historical and temporal endurance (i.e., backward and forward continuity). The study found that Mexican Americans who perceive their group as having cultural perseverance not only derive psychological benefits (i.e., enhanced individual and collective self-esteem), but these beliefs can have even greater psychological benefits than other forms of ethnic identification.

This study sought to determine the individual and combined contribution of adolescent and adult nicotine exposure on METH self-administration and METH-seeking behavior in male rats. Nicotine is a commonly abused substance among adolescents and is believed to be a "gateway" to other drugs of abuse. In support of the gateway hypothesis, cigarette smoking during adolescence is related to increased methamphetamine (METH) use in adulthood.

The purpose of this study was to determine if Fischer 344 (F344) rats, a strain which naturally shows deficits in social communication during adolescence, could be used as a model of the social communication deficits observed in autism. Thus, the goal was to determine if F344 rats would also show fewer emissions of isolated-induced ultrasonic vocalizations (an early onset form of social interaction) as compared to SD rats. The following project is an analysis of a section of data collected during the development of thirty-two different undercover anti-bullying teams at Edgewater College. Edgewater College is situated by the Tamaki estuary in Pakuranga, Auckland, New England. The research was based on the data collected from mainstream students, both male and female, with ages ranging from 13-18 years old. The students in this sample have an involvement in bullying that ranges from being peer bystanders, perpetrators and/or bullying targets.

Psychological ownership is the state where an individual believes that a target of some kind belongs to him or her, separate and regardless of legal ownership. The purpose of this study is to further the psychological ownership literature by investigating of certain individual characteristics will predict psycholgocial ownership and of work contextual issues will moderate those relationships. The current study predicted that positive couple rituals would be positively associated with relationship satisfaction, commitment, and dyadic adjustment, whereas negative couple rituals were expected to exhibit a negative association with these outcome variables. Data for this study were collected online in 2009. Participants included undergraduate students from California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB), the University of Georgia (UGA), and the University of Connecticut (UNCONN).

Behavioral sensitization is defined as an increase in behavioral responding that occurs after repeated administration of a psychostimulant. Behavioral sensitization is an important component of the addiction process that is mediated by different brain regions. In this thesis, lidocaine was used to determine those brain areas mediating one-trial behavioral sensitization in preweanling rats.

This study seeks to look at the impact of dispositional factors, specifically the Big 5 personality traits, on psychological contracts. Using a series of multiple regressions and moderated linear regressions, this study analyzed the predictive value of personality traits on psychological contract type, breach and violation, and whether exchange or creditor ideologies moderate these relationships. This study consisted of 223 adult, full-time employees who worked at least 30 hours per week and had been with their current organization for at least 6 months. The sample observed and analyzed were recruited through online requests via social networking websites and via email.

The purpose of this thesis was to: a) investigate the effects of intrastriatally administered N-ethoxycarbonyl-2ethoxy-1, 2-dihydroquinoline (EEDQ) on nonselective dopamine agonists (NPA) -induced locomotor activity in preweanling and adult rats; b) determine which dopamine receptor subtype (D1- or D2-like) is responsible for modulating EEDQ's paradoxical behavioral effects in preweanling rats; and c) examine the magnitude of EEDQ-induced D1- and D2-like receptor inactivation in both adult and preweanling rats. Subjects were 252 male and female rat pups of Sprague-Dawley descent (Charles River Laboratories, Hollister, CA, USA), born and raised at California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB).
