Analyzing Business Model And Intellectual Capital Components, Anna Ujwary-Gil
Analyzing Business Model And Intellectual Capital Components, Anna Ujwary-Gil
Anna Ujwary-Gil
The article concerns two management concepts, namely: intellectual capital and business models of the company and is of a theoretical nature. The main assumption of the literary review conducted was to discuss these two constructs in the context of their common elements. Can a business model be analyzed in the context of intellectual capital elements? Or is it possible that intellectual capital components constitute those of a business model? This article attempts to provide an answer to these questions by taking advantage of the latest subject literature, one of key importance to this issue.
Changing The Faces Of Leadership: Executive Advancement For Professionals Of Color, Hannah Roth
Changing The Faces Of Leadership: Executive Advancement For Professionals Of Color, Hannah Roth
Hannah Roth
There is a need for leadership development in companies to help prepare the next generation of leaders and to promote growth for employees. Additionally, the lack of diversity within the top ranks of leadership needs to be addressed. There is a need for more development programs that increase diversity in top leadership so that leadership at the highest levels of these organizations better reflect the demographics of the United States. There are numerous studies that demonstrate many professionals of color do not advance in their careers as quickly as their counterparts. This paper discusses how leadership development strategies tailored for …
Tripping And Falling Into The Future: An Eolithic Perspective, Keri Schwab
Tripping And Falling Into The Future: An Eolithic Perspective, Keri Schwab
Keri Schwab
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: Thirty years ago, Dustin and McAvoy (1984) published an essay in Environmental Ethics titled “Toward Environmental Eolithism.” The article compared and contrasted two distinct orientations to environmental planning and management: the design mentality and the eolithic mentality. The authors concluded that the more popular design mentality lacked obscure eolithic mentality was a superior orientation to environmental planning and management. Environmental Ethics and then discuss how an eolithic perspective might complement the strategic planning process. We begin by describing the similarities between strategic planning and the design mentality as well as the shortcomings of strategic planning in a rapidly …
Inverting The Corporate Pyramid (Lessons From An Infantryman), Robert Clements
Inverting The Corporate Pyramid (Lessons From An Infantryman), Robert Clements
Robert Clements
This presentation outlines a different Mental Model of organizational structures and upends the Corporate Pyramid and balances it on it point. This inverted model places the leaders at the bottom of the pyramid and defines loose roles for each successive layer. The top most layer represents the interface of the organization to its external enviroment. Unlike traditional top down structures, this model seeks to identify that poor implementation of various aspects of job performance can send fault lines up through the organization. The foundational managements perspective is that they support the work force above it and that all levels must …
Modele Biznesowe A Kapitał Intelektualny Przedsiębiorstwa, Anna Ujwary-Gil
Modele Biznesowe A Kapitał Intelektualny Przedsiębiorstwa, Anna Ujwary-Gil
Anna Ujwary-Gil
Understanding The Evolutionary Dynamics And Adaptation Of Complex Networks, Alireza Abbasi
Understanding The Evolutionary Dynamics And Adaptation Of Complex Networks, Alireza Abbasi
Alireza Abbasi
This study aims to explore the co-evolutionary processes of network structure and state for examining the evolutionary dynamic and adaptation of networks. The study addresses several major areas of network research: network structure dynamics (i.e., the longitudinal study of network structure); network evolution mechanisms (i.e., variation, selection, retention); actors’ attachment logics (i.e., cumulative advantage, embedding, multi-connectivity, homophily); and self-organized network behavior. Theories and hypotheses from the intersection of network theories, evolutionary theories and complex adaptive systems are drawn and synthesized. Finally the co-evolution of local dynamics versus global dynamics of networks over time has been explored through proposing a research …
Local Levers For Change: Mainstreaming Ecosystem-Based Adaptation Into Municipal Planning To Foster Sustainability Transitions, Christine Wamsler, Christopher Luederitz, Ebba Brink
Local Levers For Change: Mainstreaming Ecosystem-Based Adaptation Into Municipal Planning To Foster Sustainability Transitions, Christine Wamsler, Christopher Luederitz, Ebba Brink
Christine Wamsler
Unprecedented global challenges demand wide-reaching societal modification to ensure life support functions and human well-being. In the absence of adequate international responses to climate change and the need for place-based adaptation, local governments have a pivotal role in fostering sustainability transitions. In this context, the importance of ecosystem-based adaptation is increasingly recognized as a multi-benefit approach that utilizes ecosystem services to harmonize human-environment systems. Although research advocates the mainstreaming of ecosystem-based adaptation to advance sustainable planning, the pathways for its systematic implementation are missing and it remains unclear how local authorities can best integrate this new approach into their core …
Landing Stable Employment: The Exploratory Study Of A Job Vs. Career, Valencia Tamir Johnson Dr.
Landing Stable Employment: The Exploratory Study Of A Job Vs. Career, Valencia Tamir Johnson Dr.
Valencia T Johnson
Landing stable employment can be difficult and discouraging. Some employers want applicants that are searching for a “career”, and some employers are looking for applicants that want a “job”. Ask yourself, what is the difference between a job and a career? In simple terms, a job is short-term and a career is long-term. Applicants who seek a job would likely stay less than a year, as with a career, the candidate would likely stay more than a year or longer. This article provides a clear and concise overview of the exploratory study of landing a career or job.
Retention Of New Graduate Gen Y Nurses, Joyce K. Kutin
Retention Of New Graduate Gen Y Nurses, Joyce K. Kutin
Joyce K Kutin RN, MSN, MOL
The purpose of this paper is to review the research of new residency programs on Generation Y retention and the quality implications that influence the organization. General orientation of all nurses upon hire has been the standard practice with preceptoring of senior nurses from the individual units. The process of each unit’s orientation and standards was different without respect to the individual nurse’s experience. Prior to the implementation of the Nurse Residency program for new graduate generation y nurses, the turnover rate within the first year was greater than 50 percent. Health care organizations and their leaders need to anticipate …

Governance In Nigerian Universities: The Position Of The University Internal Auditor, Professor Ben C Osisioma
Prof Ben Chuka Osisioma
The University system is committed to the principles of good governance which ensure that the Institution is ‚fit for its purpose‛ as an organization put in place for teaching, research and consultancy and professional services to the community. The principles demand a response to the challenge of operational dexterity, technical ingenuity, strategic relevance, African persona and political deftness as part of the task of modernization of the governance of higher education. The task of the Internal Auditor is five-fold – to provide transparency and act as an advisory body to senior management, to identify underperforming areas and opportunities for improvement …

A Critical Examination Of The Relationship Between The Use Of Gatekeepers, Trust, And Organisation Knowledge-Sharing, Deogratias Harorimana Dr
Dr Deogratias Harorimana
This thesis critically examines the relationship between gatekeepers, trust, and an organisation’s knowledge sharing. The research applied mixed methods with the case study approach. In this research the concept ‘gatekeeper’ is widely used to represent a class of those who are part of a knowledge management strategy; they collect information and knowledge and contextualise this before they can share it with the rest of the members of the organisation’s knowledge networks - within the formal and informal organisation. In this study, it was found that there was a strong relationship between the openness of a given firm, as regards its …
Combatting Fraud And White Collar Crimes: Lessons From Nigeria., Professor Ben C Osisioma
Combatting Fraud And White Collar Crimes: Lessons From Nigeria., Professor Ben C Osisioma
Prof Ben Chuka Osisioma
Nigeria has paid dearly for ethical lapses and competency deficiencies in public and private life. Fraud is systemic in Nigeria with the ordinary citizen being compelled to be either a liar, a cheat or an outright thief. Fraud has stultified growth and national development, subverted the nation’s values and norms, generated a culture of illegality and impunity in public service, and frittered away the promise of the nation’s future. Today, the nation faces the trauma of a State whose date with destiny has been put on hold, for reasons that are completely self made, and completely avoidable. Any remedial measure …

The Relationship Development And Learning Organization Dimensions., Yuhfen Diana H. Wu, Connie K. Haley Dr.
Diana H. Wu
This research examined the relationship among learning organization dimensions, leadership development, employee development, and their interactions with two demographic variables (gender and ethnicity) in the context of libraries. The researchers conducted a multivariate analysis of the variance to assess the differences by leadership training groups (low training hours vs. high training hours), or by gender; and by workplace training groups (low vs. high), or by ethnicity (white vs. all others) on a linear combination of the seven dimensions of the learning organization. A conclusive summary is provided along with contributive discussion. Implications and contributions to librarians are discussed in addition …
The Role Of Knowledge Management In The Strategic Alignment Of Information Technology With Business: An Alternative And Complementary View, Fernando Paulo Belfo
The Role Of Knowledge Management In The Strategic Alignment Of Information Technology With Business: An Alternative And Complementary View, Fernando Paulo Belfo
Fernando Paulo Belfo
The Information Technology (IT) team knowledge of business strategy and the organization team knowledge of information technology are critical factors in the strategic business and IT alignment (BIA). These two factors have in common precisely the importance of "knowledge". The Information Technology team lack of knowledge about business and its strategy and vice-versa should be a major concern for the organization, since this knowledge strongly affects the possibility of an appropriate strategic alignment between business and the IT. It is significantly important to create an enabling environment for the growth of shared knowledge of the business area, encouraging professional IT …
Managing A Widespread E-Procurement Implementation In Public Healthcare, Tommaso Federici, Andrea Resca
Managing A Widespread E-Procurement Implementation In Public Healthcare, Tommaso Federici, Andrea Resca
Federici Tommaso
In large parts of Europe, the development of healthcare is subject to contrasting forces. On the one hand, there has been an explosion in spending and, at the same time, governments are faced with strict budget constraints. On the other hand, public healthcare is under pressure to be innovative, technologically advanced and to provide increasingly better quality of services. In this context, eprocurement can be seen as an instrument to offer a solution to the first issue of this dilemma. However, e-procurement initiatives in such domain have not been widely deployed, and most of them have not fully delivered the …
Malaysian Culture And The Leadership Of Organisations: A Globe Study, Norma Mansor
Malaysian Culture And The Leadership Of Organisations: A Globe Study, Norma Mansor
Norma Mansor
Leadership behavior significantly influences the performance of companies and the motivation of people. However, much of our knowledge regarding the characteristics of effective leaders is based on research carried out in Western countries. To redress this imbalance, the Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness (GLOBE) Research Program was set up in the early 1990s to investigate leadership behaviors in over 60 countries around the world, including Malaysia. Much cross-cultural research focuses on identifying differences between cultures. In contrast, the results of the GLOBE research indicate that a number of attributes associated with charismatic/transformational leadership are universally endorsed by all cultures …
