Examining The Influence Of Awareness Tools On Library Electronic Resources: A Case Study Of The National Open University Of Nigeria (Noun), Babarotimi Oluwaseun, Babarotimi Opeyemi Oluwaseun Bo

This study examines the influence of awareness tools on library electronic resources: a case study of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) employing a quantitative research approach and survey methodology, the research targeted a sample population of 1,680, including 1,513 students, 140 academic staff members, and 27 academic librarians. A combination of probability (stratified random and systematic) and nonprobability (purposive) sampling methods were applied. The study employed online self-administered closed-ended questionnaires distributed through Google Forms to participants' emails. Data analysis was carried out using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS).

This study investigated user perceptions and challenges associated with accessing and utilizing electronic resources at the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), including their implications for remote users. Using a quantitative research approach and survey methodology, the study involved 1,680 participants: 1,513 students, 140 academic staff, and 27 academic librarians. Employing a combination of probability (stratified random and systematic) and nonprobability (purposive) sampling ensured comprehensive representation. Participants completed self-administered closed-ended questionnaires distributed through online platforms, primarily Google Forms. In this study, researchers observed the impact of various promotional materials, such as print flyers, social media, email, and other web platforms, to market three electronic resources at a mid-sized, urban, commuter college academic library. Links to article databases were shortened and then tracked through a link shortening tool, which were observed over a two month period. The results created a data-driven picture of users’ promotional preferences, highlighting strengths, areas for improvement, and best practices in marketing e-resources. This paper discusses how the Leonard Lief Library at Lehman College is documenting its renovation via the social media platform Instagram. It discusses the origin of project, why we chose Instagram and how we chose to highlight that social media platform on our Library’s web page. We explain what choices we have made and what strategies we chose to effectively document the renovation. We also discuss the challenges we have encountered, and how we overcame those challenges to reach student audiences in new and engaging ways.

Effective collaboration between archives and technical services can increase the discoverability of special collection materials. Archivists at the University of Dayton Libraries began using Archive-It to capture websites relevant to their collecting policies in 2015. However, the collections were only made available to users from the University of Dayton page on the Archive-It website. Content was isolated in a separate platform and was not promoted to users. Working together, the team of archivists and technical services librarians incorporated the web archive collections into the Libraries’ EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) discovery layer. This presentation was given at the 2015 USETDA (United States Electronic Theses and Dissertations Association) conference in Austin, Texas explores the history of Digital Collections Center at Florida International University and where and how it functions in the process of publishing, archiving, and promoting the university's electronic theses and dissertations. Additionally, the functionality of Digital Commons is discussed along with the use of Adobe Acrobat for creating archival quality PDFs. Generally created by individual librarians and anchored to a physical space, library displays are often static, limited, and fleeting. However, these displays can evolve into wider, more affective, multi-dimensional, 21st century, virtual spaces by incorporating collaborative discourse between multiple librarians, by reaching out to the community for content, and by using technological tools, such as email, Google Drive, Google Images, QR codes, and social media.
