Most school libraries organize fiction books alphabetically by an author’s last name. In order for a student to find and compare potential fiction reading material, the traditional school library model would have the student either search the library system for the topic and then go from stack to stack looking for books about the topic from any number of locations or seek advice from school library staff who would direct the student to potential titles as part of a reader’s advisory. In an effort to make fiction book selection easier for students, some school librarians have turned to genrefied fiction …

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
The literature is predominated by studies seeking to clarify the extent of the availability, functionality, accessibility and/or utilisation of library materials in schools at various levels. The extent of principals' management of library resources and their contribution to the lesson preparation activities of teachers seems to have been under-researched. In bridging the gap, the current study was designed to assess the extent and contribution of principals’ management of library resources to teachers’ lesson preparation practices. A Consolidation Of Challenges Faced By School Libraries In Developing Countries, Liah Shonhe
Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Achieving quality education is a challenge for many developing countries. One of the problems leading to this challenge is the inability of governments to invest in the development and management of effective school libraries. This paper enumerates the problems that hinder effective school library services in …

Translated books represent a unique bridge between cultures for young readers. This article discusses recent trends and practical applications for award-winning literature that has been translated into English and published in the United States. Winner and honour titles earning the Mildred L Batchelder Award for their publishers often include European languages of origins and settings. Despite this homogeneity, the books represent a quality option as a way to diversify a library collection for English-speaking patrons, particularly young adults, and to enhance teaching lessons with the integration of this global literature.

Honors Theses

Also, I spoke with Miss Shinn, who is the director of institutional libraries in Arkansas. She informed me that the training schools' libraries are to be approved under the same standards as school libraries. The services extended beyond books as half of this year's budget was spent on audio-visual equipment.
According to ALA school media standards, a small library should consist of at least 6000 volumes. My bibliography is not that extensive, …
