This study was organized to assess and have records about the information literacy and computer literacy skills among the students at the University of Jammu. To collect the data, a questionnaire was framed and distributed among 265 students studying at the University of Jammu. Out of 265 students, 243 questionnaires were received with responses being filed in them. Of the 243 students, there were 159 males and 84 females. The survey study investigates the perception of the value of Library and Information Science (LIS) degree for side business practices among LIS professionals in Nigeria. The study used a combination of web-based and hard copy questionnaire to elicit information from 176 randomly selected working librarians in academic libraries in Nigeria. Four objectives guided the study. The results of the study reveal that the librarians perceive that the LIS degree has value. The majority of them engage in one side business or another. This study includes the following: the year-wise distribution of research produced; authors' collaboration; publications by type; language; geographical preference for research; and coverage of different subject areas.

The present study was conducted with an aim to determine the level of library anxiety among the graduate students of Library and Information Science enrolled in public sector universities of Pakistan. The Multidimensional Library Anxiety Scale developed and validated by Dr. Doris Van Kampen, was used for this study. The data was collected from 511 students of MLIS studying in different library schools of Pakistan. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the extent of LIS (Library and Information Science) literature referring to and being referred by patents in the form of scholarly citations they attribute and/or receive. The analysis of the present study was done based on a total data-set of 237820 research publications of the LIS discipline ranging from April 1920 to April 2020 (100 years) as mined from the LENS database. This short commentary introduces and discusses the “Library Philosophy and Practice (LPP) Phenomenon,” wherein a scholarly journal published in a developed country has an extremely large number of authors from developing countries, relative to the typical journal. Elements of journals that fit the LPP phenomenon are discussed, as well as what this phenomenon says about barriers to scholarly publishing for researchers from developing nations. Implications for journals that lack diverse authorship from developing nations are listed. This phenomenon may be studied in other disciplines to further illuminate divides in the scholarly realm.

The present study examines the accessibility of URLs cited in the journals of Library and Information Science. The journals were selected based on their high impact factor published between 2008 and 2017. A PHP script was used to crawl the Uniform Resource Locators (URL) collected from the reference list. A total of 3,24,636 references were extracted from 7986 articles, out of which 51,839 had URLs. The research findings indicated that 23.10% of URLs were inaccessible. Totally, 10590 Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) on Library and Information Science were contributed by various Universities/Institutions during the period of 1971-2020 in OATD.org. Further, it is found that the countries such as US, Sweden, Finland, UK and South Africa were contributed 73.56% of theses. During 2011-2015, more numbers theses and dissertations were added in OATD.org. The present study examines the reliability of web citations in scholarly journals of Library and Information Science and Communication and Media Studies. The journals were selected based on their high impact factor published between 2008 and 2017. A total 5,55,428 references were extracted, out of which 1,02,718 had web citations. The research findings indicated that there more number of URLs in CMS journal articles than in LIS journal articles. While examining the characteristic features of the URLs cited, it was found that .html files and organizational (.org) top-level domain were the most cited in both the disciplines. Introduction The main theme of the study is to investigate the usage of social media among the student of Department of Library and Information Science.
Objectives To examines the most useable social media applications, purpose of their use and impacts of social media.
Method Structured questionnaire was distributed among 208 students through personal visits and emails.
Results The study determines that Facebook was the frequently useable application among these students. The majority of the students used social media for academic and entertainment purposes.
Conclusion The study concluded that the social media has positive impacts on the studies of the students.

The paper aims to explore the fundamental concepts of structuralism and post-structuralism as philosophical approaches, literary differences between structuralism and post-structuralism, and the implication of these two approaches in Library and Information Science (LIS). Several published literature was consulted to achieve the study objectives. It was found that structuralism and post-structuralism have a significant impact on the functioning of modern libraries and, therefore, their importance should be given consideration. Structuralism and post-structuralism as philosophical approaches provide insights into research and development in LIS.
