This study uses a descriptive survey to study the attitude of selected librarians in Ibadan, Oyo state, Nigeria, toward information communication technology (ICT). The population includes 41 librarians in four institutions. Data were collected using an instrument adapted from the Igberia and Chakrabarti (1990) Computer Anxiety and Attitude Towards Microcomputer Utilization (CAATMU) scale, and the librarian attitude questionnaire developed by Ramzan (2004). Two research questions were developed to guide the study. The results show that librarians have a positive attitude toward ICT and that training and knowledge are the sine qua non for a positive attitude. The fear of ICT …

The study assesses the affect of medical libraries on medical education. It explains vividly, the various constituents connected with value and effectiveness of information to medical practitioners, what to do and what doing them will mean in qualitative terms. In carrying out the research, a survey was conducted through the use of a self developed 24-item questionnaire which tried to improve ways of accessing, assessing and communicating information effectively through strategic planning, statistical measurement, personnel appraisal and budgeting. The finding revealed that medical libraries are playing relevant and statutory roles in their various institutions. This is in spite of the …

Very few studies examine how campus communities actually make use of subject guides, which is key to informing how they should be created. Usability studies of subject page use often yield inconclusive results because the test sample is not representative of the actual campus population. Usability studies / focus groups are an excellent way of supplementing data already in existence. Survey data from a previous study, "Academic Subject Guides: A Case Study at San Jose State University," is examined to provide more rigorous guidance in developing user-centric models of online research guides.

Emotional Intelligence, Joan Giesecke
Emotional Intelligence, Joan Giesecke
Faculty Publications, UNL Libraries
Emotional intelligence, as backed by the research on this important aspect of ourselves, helps leaders move beyond basic “people skills” to understanding how one’s own reactions and feelings impact how one is perceived by others. Leaders and managers need to understand their own emotions and recognize and understand the feelings of those around them. Leaders are more successful when they pay attention to their social interactions with others in the workplace and the impact they as leaders have on those around them. It is also important for leaders to understand the impact that others’ emotions have on them. When leaders …

The Evolving Commons Concept: Information, Learning, Teaching, Research [International Conference On Information & Learning Commons, Dec. 10-11, 2007], D. Russell Bailey
Library Commons
The Commons concept, developed in the early 1990’s, has evolved over time, taking different shapes and involving different resources and services as it has evolved, including the Information Commons, the Learning Commons, the Library Commons and the Research Commons. There are numerous similarities among the various iterations of the Commons and some clear differences.
This presentation describes the basic foci and components of the Commons, found in most all iterations.
The presentation then delineates and describes the variations among the different types of Commons as they move from library-centric and tactical initiatives to institution-wide and strategic.

With its location along Bayboro Harbor, USF St. Petersburg offers many recreational and research opportunities to those with an interest in sailing. The University’s sailing team, headquartered on campus, uses the facilities of the Watercraft Office, Division of Student Affairs. These materials, collected by William “Steve” Lang during his tenure as advisor, illustrate the sailing competitions and activities of the sail team from the early 1990s through 2001. Additional accessions will build upon the materials in these records. The burgee was donated by J. M. “Sudsy” Tschiderer to complement the archival records.

The Anchor: 2007
The Anchor began in 1887 and was first issued weekly in 1914. Covering national and campus news alike, Hope College’s student-run newspaper has grown over the years to encompass over two-dozen editors, reporters, and staff. For much of The Anchor's history, the latest issue was distributed across campus each Wednesday throughout the academic school year (with few exceptions). As of Fall 2019 The Anchor has moved to monthly print issues and a more frequently updated website. Occasionally, the volume and/or issue numbering is irregular.

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)
Digital libraries and Digitisation play an important role in preserving and disseminating knowledge in art and culture, education, science and technology, literature and humanities, media and entertainment, cultural heritage, and history. In India, a substantial number of libraries and information centres have initiated digital library activities. Indian society has created and preserved the resources of traditional and cultural heritage in various forms; however, thousands of ancient books and manuscriptsl remain in perishable palm leaves and urgently need digitization. This article describes some of the digital libraries and institutional repositories of India.
