This short presentation will summarize the position of our publishing house in light of the Plan S statements, and review concrete actions taken in light of Plan S as of the date of the NYSCILIB 2019 event. A straw poll to determine sentiment towards a full blown Plan S program or summit in New York State will be taken.

Academic libraries are the most diverse departments on campus. Librarians offer knowledge from various disciplines. Students not only benefit from this knowledge. They can gain real world experience from project collaboration with librarians. One way to reach out to students of computer science and engineering is to create a projects that centers on an application for libraries. This could be an internal application or open application for the library community. This presentation will discuss how one librarian has brought forward these real world projects. Parents are important aspects of our students’ academic lives, and as such, should be acknowledged and considered as allies and potential partners with libraries. This article presents ideas for many ways in which libraries can engage with parents and families, while also exploring the benefits of such efforts. The broad areas in which these efforts fall include 1) overall student success, 2) connecting with other student-supporting and student-reaching entities on campus, and 3) supporting the critical efforts of student recruitment and retention. In the fall 2009 semester, the Syracuse University Library launched a pilot program to test two Kindle DX e-book readers as content delivery devices. The pilot objectives included exploring additional options for access to curricular resources that are cost-prohibitive and frequently requested by library users, testing a new technology, i.e., Kindle DX, for delivery of ebooks, gauging user reactions to e-book readers, and using Kindle statistics and user feedback to develop or modify services and technologies. This article details the rennovation that occurred on the E. S. Bird Library at Syracuse University in 1991. The then two-decade-old library was changed to better facilitate access and reflect emerging trends in libraries that looked to better integrate academic disciplines. The article includes a brief history of the library, the planning and implementation of the reconfiguration project, and a floor plan of the 1991 library.
