Introduction: Information instruction is essential to providing support for clinical care, teaching and research in hospitals. In the international literature, little has been published about this function of hospital libraries in Spain. This study examines the education activities of Spanish hospitals. Methods: A questionnaire about staff, education activities and institutional recognition was distributed via email to Spanish hospital libraries. The data was analysed in February 2023. Results: 84% of libraries provide education activities. The average number education staff is 1.3. Common instruction topics are database searching, citations, researcher identity and scientific journals (quality, impact and publication standards). 83% of libraries …

Background:

The Providence Library team has not had a systematic way to gather feedback from our users regarding our literature review service. While we receive many grateful responses to our literature searches, we need more detailed, consistent information about our impacts to inform leadership and improve our services. Previous studies have documented the importance of library services in hospitals, and the impact librarians make on quality patient care. The Library Committee is a requirement of the RGH Medical/Dental Staff and is facilitated by Dr. Scott Schabel. After RGH and Unity merged, the Libraries formed one department and expanded access and services to all RRH sites. The Library committee, composed of staff from across the health system, provide feedback and share library news with their teams. The committee meets 2x/year via Zoom.

Systematic Review Search Strategies: Non-Arthritic Hip Diseases And Psychosocial Factors, Jenn Monnin

The following search strategies were built for a systematic review addressing non-arthritic hip diseases and psychosocial factors. An a priori protocol for this review was developed and registered with PROSPERO (CRD42021248562). The search was originally designed in PubMed, then translated to the other databases searched (Scopus, Web of Science, CINAHL, and SPORTDiscus). Search peer review was performed by Anna Crawford using a modified version of the Peer Review of Electronic Search Strategies guideline. The original search was run on July 12, 2021, with a search update performed on June 21, 2023.

Dignity: A Journal of Analysis of Exploitation and Violence

As pornography became increasingly popular online, many unsuspecting consumers reported adverse effects. These included sexual dysfunctions, such as lack of response with real partners, delayed ejaculation, erectile difficulties, and sexual compulsivity. Some pornography consumers began congregating in online self-help portals (forums and websites) to assist one another in quitting or reducing problematic pornography use. The popularity of the self-help resources and their potential to dampen the profits of a lucrative industry resulted in disinformation campaigns run by individuals connected to the pornography industry. Instructional medical librarians are uniquely positioned in a context governed by multiple instructional frameworks emerging from librarianship and the professions with which they liaise. Yet very little literature exists on medical librarians’ use of curriculum mapping to align their instruction with these frameworks. This review illuminates the current state of curriculum mapping in medical librarianship.We searched five bibliographic databases for articles published between 2010 and August 2021 and centred on information literacy(IL)curriculum mapping within a health sciences university context. Objective: The aim is to construct an institutional repository (IR) focused on a health science campus that encompasses intellectual output of the faculty and students while preserving campus work and promoting open access.

Methods: The Digital Commons Institutional Repository software/platform has enabled us to create and continuously build digital collections. Several librarians on our team are responsible for different collections in the IR. The digital collections include journals, faculty/student publications, poster presentations, data sets, campus artwork, and other campus-related materials. Objective: To create a template for LSUHSC-NO’s LibGuides to give them a unified look and feel and make navigation of the LibGuides easier. Methods: Using LibGuides template editor, changed the navigation from “tabbed” to “side nav” and created a style guide for other librarians to base their LibGuides on and have a centralized place to look for resources and other help on building a LibGuide. Objectives: The objective of this study is to discover and synthesize the concepts and contents of the literature published in health sciences education journals investigating the experiences of LGBTQIA+ health sciences students. Methods: Literature searches were performed in Ovid MEDLINE, Embase, and ERIC databases based on an established PubMed search strategy and adapted for each database. Results were limited to the contents of a selection of health sciences education journals. Studies were required to focus on the experiences of health sciences students identifying as LGBTQIA+ and their perceptions of these experiences. Results: Searches yielded 695 citations. The Ische Library started to offer the service in Fall of 2019. It did not take long for word of the service to get out, and during the first few months, the library handled a respectable volume of requests. In 2020, COVID-19 struck and almost all poster printing halted. Throughout the remainder of 2020, and the whole of 2021, the cancellation of conferences, and students attending remotely ensured that we did not have any external posters to print. Library staff printed a poster or two each month, to created internal signage, and just to keep the printer in working order. …

Objective: To build a database of campus art to help preserve campus history and to create a record of where items are currently located (or when they were last seen). Methods: Using our campus’s instance of BePress Institutional Repository, I built an online collection of images of artwork housed on campus, mostly portraits of historical faculty members. Historical information is gathered about each individual, or the piece of art, and then added to the database. Statistics on usage are gathered and new pieces to add are being identified monthly. Objective: To launch a new library service aimed at assisting researchers with managing their data to meet new funder requirements and making their data available for future use.

Methods: Two librarians received training in the field of Data Services and earned the Data Services Specialization certification through MLA. They learned about current funder requirements and created a LibGuide about data management. They hosted a campus wide information session to share timely information and resources regarding the new NIH policy for data management and sharing. No similar investigation has been conducted on current publication trends by health sciences librarians. Introduction: GPT-3 is a large language model that uses artificial intelligence to generate textual responses to prompts and questions. GPT-3 technology has been used to create several interesting tools including the widely reported chatbot ChatGPT-3, which was released in November 2022. Inspired by the initial success of GPT-3, several organizations have started to build tools designed to assist with tasks associated with the systematic review research process.
