Rescue and Surrender of Companion Animals Collection
To increase the public’s awareness of and exposure to animals needing homes, PetRescue, Australia’s largest online directory of animals in need of adoption, lists all currently available animals from rescue and welfare shelters nationwide. The current study examined the photographs in the PetRescue online profiles of the three most common breeds within these data, namely, Staffordshire bull terriers (n = 3988), Labrador retrievers (n = 2246), and Jack Russell terriers (n = 2088), to identify the inferred preferences of potential adopters. By investigating the attributes of these photographs, we were able to identify visual risk factors associated with protracted lengths …
The Blind Man: A Phantasmography [Table Of Contents], Robert Desjarlais
The Blind Man: A Phantasmography [Table Of Contents], Robert Desjarlais
Sociology
“Emerging from an unknown body, enthralling images, and lacerating silences, The Blind Man is written with the force of literature. Desjarlais’s fierce masterpiece reawakens anthropology’s sense of wonder with the affective, spectral nature of worldly encounters. A transformational book.”—João Biehl, Princeton University
The Blind Man: A Phantasmography examines the complicated forces of perception, imagination, and phantasms of encounter in the contemporary world. In considering photographs he took while he was traveling in France, anthropologist and writer Robert Desjarlais reflects on a few pictures that show the features of a man, apparently blind, who begs for money at a religious site …

Archaeology And Tourism In The Early 20th Century: Pompeii Through A Photographic Archive, Rebecca A. Salem
Anthropology Department: Theses
Held at the University of Nebraska State Museum, the Iain C.G. Campbell collection contains thirty-nine photographs taken at Pompeii and Athens, forty-six postcards from multiple archaeological sites around the Mediterranean, and two Roman style lamps. Dating to the early nineteen hundreds, this collection was brought to Nebraska by Iain C.G. Campbell, the son of Gladys Annie Campbell née Theophilus, the original collector and the woman who is thought to be shown in two of the photographs from the collection. Campbell moved to Nebraska after his marriage to Gladys Perry, a native Nebraskan, and brought with him his mother’s collection. Donated …

The Preservation Of Archaeological Records And Photographs, Kelli Bacon
The Preservation Of Archaeological Records And Photographs, Kelli Bacon
Anthropology Department: Theses
Substantive and organized research about archaeological records and photograph preservation, especially those written by and for archaeologists, are few. Although the Society for American Archaeology has a code of ethics regarding archaeological records preservation, and the federal government has regulations regarding the care and preservation of federally owned archaeological collections, there is a lack of resources. This is detrimental to archaeology because not all archaeologists, given the maturity of the discipline, understand how important it is to preserve archaeological records and photographs. Without documents and photographs from projects, irreplaceable information is lost. This thesis adds to the existing body of …
