International Exporting Business Experience Through The Greene County Pilot Export Assistance Program, Jian Wang
Masters Culminating Experiences (1993-2011)
The Greene County Pilot Export Assistance Project, an academic-corporate-government partnership program, is a dynamic program to assist small and medium-sized companies realizing export potentiality and capturing a share of international markets. This program is an ongoing program that is expected to last from one to two years. My part consisted of a one quarter study of the export assistance programs, processes and outcomes for selected Greene County firms, that were interested in expanding their existing export markets or have exportable products or services ready for the international market. The project entails training in the use of National Trade Data Bank …
The Political Economy Of External Debt: A Case Study Of Latin America, Elisabeth Ann Johnson
The Political Economy Of External Debt: A Case Study Of Latin America, Elisabeth Ann Johnson
Masters Culminating Experiences (1993-2011)
I believe that high external debt service requirements act as a restraint on economic growth and aggravate macroeconomic and microeconomic imbalances within an economy. Large future repayments act as a tax on investment, both foreign and domestic, encourage capital flight, and decrease savings. Inflation increases due to currency devaluations that result from the promotion of export goods and services in international markets to repay the debt and uncertainty in the domestic financial markets. Austerity measures, designed to correct fiscal problems, decrease public expenditures and private consumption. The final result is a lack of economic growth and a decline in the …

Although historical revision is a valid practice, Holocaust revisionism is based on deliberate fabrications of the historical record and does not reinterpret a past event. The author believes that Holocaust revisionist materials should not be ignored by teachers, but should be used in classrooms as primary source material on anti-Semitism and intolerance.

Beyond The Civil Rights Agenda For Blacks: Principles For The Pursuit Of Economic And Community Development, James Jennings
Beyond The Civil Rights Agenda For Blacks: Principles For The Pursuit Of Economic And Community Development, James Jennings
William Monroe Trotter Institute Publications
Over the last several decades, this country has experimented with economic development and social welfare strategies and programs molded by liberals and conservatives, and embodied in the policies and politics of both Republicans and Democrats at the national level. However, given the continuing social and economic crisis, and gaps between African Americans and whites, it seems the approaches of both liberals and conservatives have been inadequate. Due to the failure of current policy strategies, in terms of black living conditions, debate in the black community should move from disagreements between liberals and conservatives, or Democrats and Republicans, towards the question …
One Piece Of The Collection Development Puzzle: Issues In Drafting Format Selection Guidelines, Jonathan A. Franklin
One Piece Of The Collection Development Puzzle: Issues In Drafting Format Selection Guidelines, Jonathan A. Franklin
Librarians' Articles
New electronic formats have made collection development decisions more complex. Mr. Franklin discusses how to incorporate a library's primary goals and resource limitations into library-specific format selection guidelines, and proposes criteria to help selectors choose the appropriate format for specific resources. A format selection checklist is appended. para This paper won the student division of the American Association of Law Libraries / LexisNexis Call for Papers Award in 1994.
A Benefit Cost Analysis Of The Proposal To Eradicate Mediterranean Fruit Fly From Western Australia, Kingsley Thomas Fisher, Richard Bleakley, Neil Thomson
A Benefit Cost Analysis Of The Proposal To Eradicate Mediterranean Fruit Fly From Western Australia, Kingsley Thomas Fisher, Richard Bleakley, Neil Thomson
Research Reports
It is estimated that it would cost between $205M and $250M to eradicated Mediterranean Fruit Fly (MFF) from Western Australia (WA). While eradication would be beneficial for fruit growers, it is unlikely that benefits would outweigh costs. The most important factor influencing the economic outcome is, how the eradication program affects the export volume and price of fruit.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
This is the definitive description of the 1988 Survey of Groups and Organizations Working for Peace and the 1992 follow-up of the peace movement organizations which responded in 1988. Clearing The Air, Mike Carroll
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
This edition of the Western Australian Journal of Agriculture contains an exchange of letters between 20 farmers and myself, prompted by the article by Ross Kingwell in the last issue of the Journal (Volume 34, No. 4, 1993).
The article was entitled 'Agriculture's Economic Performance', and dealt with some of the economic forces in agriculture, including the terms of trade, productivity growth and the growth of exports. However, it is evident from the following letter and from other comments that the worthwhile content of the article was negated by some unfortunate phrasing, and a too compressed treatment of a complex …

Using Saltland In Pakistan : An Australian Connection, Ed Barrett-Lennard, Riaz Qureshi
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 4
Pakistan and Australia have a common enemy in salt. In each country millions of hectares of previously productive land have been affected by salt (or have the potential to become saline) because of inappropriate agricultural development. Since 1989 the Western Australian Department of Agriculture has participated in a research project in Pakistan which involves revegetation of salt land using Australian shrubs. Early results are very promising.

Black Elk Speaks (And So Does John Neihardt) An Intercultural Relationship, Jennifer Folkers
Black Elk Speaks (And So Does John Neihardt) An Intercultural Relationship, Jennifer Folkers
Honors Theses, 1963-2015
In 1930, John Neihardt went to South Dakota to interview a Native American religious man about the ghost dance religion. When he got there, he discovered a 79 year old Oglala Lakota man named Black Elk who wanted to share his religious visions with the author. Neihardt was excited about the possibility of writing down the story and postponed his other work to interview Black Elk. These interviews turned into Black Elk Speaks. Although its first copyright was in 1931, Black Elk Speaks has been reprinted many times since then. My thesis is about the relationship between Neihardt and Black …
Gender Equity In The National Collegiate Athletic Association, Jennifer Nord
Gender Equity In The National Collegiate Athletic Association, Jennifer Nord
Honors Theses, 1963-2015
Medical research has demonstrated that women¹s physical, mental, and social health improves when they participate in athletics. Historically, men have had nearly exclusive control of sports revenues and opportunities. Women are now breaking down the walls to "men¹s only" activities through a heated debate that revolves around the word equality. But, equity with regard to gender means fairness, not necessarily equality. Proponents of gender equity are urging the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), which is the governing body, to take action and prohibit inequitable conditions in college athletics. Men¹s athletics currently receive over 82% of department budgets. Not only is …

The State Of The Parties, First Edition, Daniel M. Shea, John C. Green
The State Of The Parties, First Edition, Daniel M. Shea, John C. Green
The State of the Parties First Edition
This volume originated in a conference entitled "State of the Parties: 1992 and Beyond" held at The University of Akron September 23-24, 1993.
This volume provides students of political parties with up-to-date information on both the state of American party organizations and controversies over how these organizations are studied. The collection focuses on new direction in party scholarship-including debates over the vitality and relevance of the two party system, the analytical usefulness of the traditional model of American parties, and the import of organizational studies.
Politics, Professionalism And Power, John Green
Politics, Professionalism And Power, John Green
Politics, Professionalism and Power
This book examines the role of increased professionalism in the growth of both the Republican and Democratic national parties, beginning with Republican National Committee Chairman Ray C. Bliss in the 1960s. It analyzes how an increased application of professional values has contributed to the continued growth of national party organizations, despite recurring constraints in party policymaking.
Representing Interests And Interest Group Representation, William Crotty, Mildred A. Schwartz, John C. Green
Representing Interests And Interest Group Representation, William Crotty, Mildred A. Schwartz, John C. Green
Representing Interests and Interest Group Representation
Interest groups and other “group concepts” of politics dominated explanations of American government and policy-making in the 1950s and early 1960s and, as filtered through the concept of pluralism, have provided what is arguably the most lasting and perhaps the most persuasive theorizing on political decision-making in the United States. Representing Interests and Interest Group Representation explores both the strengths and weaknesses of the current research on interest groups. It points to what needs to be done, the major intellectual concerns that should guide the research, and some of the more productive ways to approach the significant research questions.
