Digital projects are diverse, and there are a variety of ways to manage them. Learn how Cleveland State is streamlining workflows and making the most of limited resources across multiple departments. To streamline project approval and improve communication, the Cleveland State University Library re-evaluated and revised its process to use Microsoft SharePoint to manage workflows. At Cleveland State University, the library collaborates with faculty and departments on projects such as:
- capturing and sharing conferences;
- publishing scholarly journals; and
- creating and disseminating open educational resources.
These endeavors have led to additional opportunities in other areas, such as working with students and with the greater Cleveland community. Ideally, bulking up an institutional repository with a full listing of faculty publications is a worthy goal, but how can that be accomplished within a reasonable time period? Cleveland State University implemented Digital Commons in March 2012 with the KickStart program. Since then, faculty publications have been added at a steady, but slow pace. Through a collaborative effort, our Digital Initiatives Librarian worked with others to refine batch processing to increase the flow of record creation and document loading into EngagedScholarship@CSU. In the NextGen Librarian's Survival Guide by Rachel Singer Gordon, the author cites several reasons this time is different than times before in librarianship. Those that are most relevant to law librarianship include:
• Flattening workplace hierarchies and participative management increase the input of newer librarians in workplace decision making
