This 1893 publication that highlights the resources of the State of California was prepared in response to State legislation requiring that the report be prepared for distribution at the World's Columbian Exposition. It includes a description of each county, including area, population, chief industry, climate and soils, that would assist the intending settler "in forming his judgment as to which part of the State offered immediate advantages in the pursuit of the vocation he chose to follow."

This collection consists of typescript articles on letterhead titled The Week: An Industrial, Financial, and Agricultural Review. The articles cover topics related to public utilities (especially rural electrification), agricultural diversification and reform, economic development in Georgia, and the work of the Utilities Information Committee of Georgia, an alliance between businessmen and landowners formed in 1919 to promote economic development. Most of the articles are undated but content indicates that they were written from 1926 through 1928.

In fiscal year 1976, the direct cost of federal government regulation of business hit an all time high. By 1978, the annual total federal regulatory cost will be approximately $3.8 billion, an 85% rise over the 1974 level. The most expensive sectors of federal regulatory activity are not focused on an individual industry, but are assigned to a broad category of social activities like the environment, energy, and consumer health and safety.

Randolph writes to an unidentified cottton manufacturer that he has been informed that "exhorbitant" prices are being charged for certain goods. Randolph also requests that his correspondent reply to him what quantity and what price such goods can be furnished at the time of writing and over the subsequent 30, 60, and 90 days at various points throughout the Southern rail system. Randolph further adds that "cotton manufacturers must not ex[ect to sell their goods at unreasonable prices[....]while other classes are suffering[.]"
