The aim of this study is to better understand the external and internal drivers that affect residential air-conditioning (A/C) use decisions and occupant comfort. Field observations were carried out using instrumental measurements and smartphone questionnaires, recording householder's A/C usage patterns, indoor/outdoor climatic factors, perception of thermal comfort and adaptive behaviours.

90Y-radioembolization is a palliative treatment for liver cancer. 90Y decays via beta emission, making imaging difficult due to absence of gamma radiation. Since post-procedure imaging is crucial, several theranostic radionuclides have been explored as alternatives. However, exposures to gamma radiation throughout the treatment caused concern for the organs near the liver. Geant4 Monte Carlo simulation using MIRD Pamphlet 5 reference phantom was carried out. A spherical tumour with 4.3cm radius was modelled within the liver. 1.82GBq of 90Y sources were isotropically distributed within the tumour, with no extrahepatic shunting. The simulation was repeated with 153Sm, 166Ho and 177Lu. The estimated …

Self-heating or even spontaneous combustion of stockpiled coal, which is likely to outbreak under favourable circumstances during its transport, process, and storage, is a long-standing thermal dynamic hazard. This hazard is harmful in diverse aspects: causing loss of coal resource and caking property, raising safety concerns upon occurrence of open fire, and giving off noxious/greenhouse effect gases. This paper focuses on developing maintenance policies for critical assets to improve the production performance based on life cycle cost (LCC) analysis. A general approach is adopted for conducting the LCC analysis. The investigation is based on a case study to demonstrate how an optimum maintenance policy is determined. The relevant LCC structure in the case study is defined for the decision process which involves determination of the optimum life, repair limit and selection of materials, and trade-off between repair and replacement. Previous research in Vietnam has mainly focused on information technology adoption; this study offers an insight into the demands of information technology skills in Vietnam. The behavior of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) tube reinforced concrete (FTRC) columns under different loading conditions was investigated in this study. Four groups of 16 specimens were cast and tested. Specimens in the first group (the reference group) were re- inforced with longitudinal steel bars and steel helices (Group REF). Specimens in the second group were reinforced with intact glass FRP tubes (Group IT). Specimens in the third group were also reinforced with intact glass FRP tubes. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of zinc dialkyl dithio phosphate (ZDDP) films on sticking during hot rolling of a ferritic stainless steel strip. The surface characterization and crack propagation of the oxide scale are very important for understanding the mechanism of the sticking. The high-temperature oxidation of one typical ferritic stainless was conducted at 1373 K (1100 °C) for understanding its microstructure and surface morphology. Residual Stress Study Of Al/Al Laminates Processed By Accumulative Roll Bonding, Lihong Su, Cheng Lu, Hui Jun Li, Vladimir Luzin, Hui Wang, Anh Kiet Tieu

In this work accumulative roll bonding (ARB) was used to combine AA1050 and AA6061 sheets to produce AA1050/AA1050, AA6061/AA6061 and AA1050/AA6061 laminates with ultrafine grained (UFG) structure. Two sheets of starting materials were roll bonded with 200 °C preheating for 180 s before rolling. The through-thickness residual stress distribution of these laminates processed up to two cycles of ARB was determined by neutron diffraction with spatial resolution of 0.2 mm through 1.5 mm thickness. The measurements also required high accuracy of only few MPa since residual stresses in the laminates peaked at only about 15 MPa. The laminates composed of …
