Do you teach workshops at your public library? Do you teach middle school students who just want to use Google? Do you teach college level information literacy? If you said yes to any of those questions, this workshop is for you. The material presented in this workshop will help guide you towards new ideas for instruction that use active learning and constructivist principles, particularly how they apply to mobile devices and mobile learning. We’ll discuss how to adapt instruction to the new culture of learning.

In consultation with the Central District Health Department, the Community and Regional Planning program conducted a bike share analysis that locates and optimizes the number of bikes and bike share stations for a 2.25-mile radius in the Downtown Boise area. After examining several bike share projects in other cities and studies of their methodologies two analyses from Seattle, Washington and Los Angeles County, California proved helpful in developing the Boise Bike Share Location Analysis. Using GIS optimization analysis to determine the optimal number of bikes and bike stations resulted in 140 bikes and 14 stations as the optimal finding.

Modern Hebrew spirantization (MHS) is a highly variable process with many exceptions. This paper reports the results of an experiment testing the acceptability of variation in alternating and exceptional segments in Modern Hebrew spirantization. Consequently, an Optimality Theoretic (OT) analysis, combining stochastic constraint ranking (Hayes & MacEachern 1998, Boersma 1998, Zuraw 2000, Boersma & Hayes 2001, Hayes 2004) and set-based indexation (Pater 2000) is used to model the results. In MHS the stops [p], [b], and [k] alternate with their fricative counterparts [f], [v], and [χ]. Fricatives occur in post-vocalic position and stops occur elsewhere. This is illustrated in these …

This chapter focuses on the development and implementation of various media plans and strategies for World Wide Views on Global Warming (WWV) in the United States. While we aim to consider the U.S. case within the larger context of global media coverage of WWV, we focus primarily on the U.S. for two reasons: first, our participation in the U.S. WWV team provides rich understanding of efforts to attract U.S. media, and second, the U.S. media landscape and norms create particular challenges of garnering media coverage for an event like WWV that may not translate to other cultural contexts.
