In 2018 the UVU Fulton Library partnered with Institutional Research to run a Library Research Focus Group. They had 15 participants in two sessions. Students gave feedback on what was stressful about research, where they looked for help, and what barriers they experienced asking for help in the library. Using detailed qualitative data the Fulton Library addressed student concerns in instruction, wayfinding, and marketing reference services differently to tackle students’ needs.

Background: Discovery services are increasingly popular within the library community because of the users’ ability to conduct simply searches and receive unified results. Five years ago, the University of Louisville Libraries converted from Voyager to OCLC Discovery. In that timeframe, Kornhauser Health Sciences Library witnessed a rise in user dissatisfaction, in addition to an increase in time spent by librarians solving access issues.

In October 2016, the Diversity Council of Libraries and Educational Technologies produced book displays in Carrier and Rose Libraries that focused on "Understanding Black Lives Matter." The council wanted to provide information on this social movement within the context of national history and racial identity. A list of books that covered topic areas of criminal justice, Jim Crow, racism, and the Black experience - among others - was generated, along with two informational placards. Humor is a major part of our interactions with other people. Despite humor’s simple purpose to amuse, there are several cognitive processes at work when trying to understand it. When looking at disparaging humor, prejudiced norm theory suggests disparaging humor creates an atmosphere where prejudice is deemed more acceptable, which then leads to more tolerance for discrimination.  Our research examined people’s perceptions of intersectional (i.e., relating to racial and gender) stereotype-based humor using starter pack memes. Starter packs are a collection of stereotypic images meant to identify and define a group.We manipulated the identity targeted by these starter packs …
