This paper explores the representation of librarians within two popular types of online imagery: stock photographs and memes. While the representation of librarians in popular media has been explored before, these particular media have not and are distinct in that they are often created by amateurs with little professional editorial mediation. This study builds upon Seale’s librarian archetypes and Attebury’s revisions in order to compare these new medias to traditional depictions of the profession. This study investigated the extent of librarians’ application of copyright laws in digitization of academic library resources in University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Five research objectives guided the study. The research design adopted for this study was a descriptive survey. The study’s aim is twofold: first to determine the extent to which Australian library and information professionals produce research literature (specifically journal articles); and second to explore the status of the use of research literature by library and information science (LIS) practitioners as evidence for their practice. All articles published in the field of LIS in 2015 by Australian authors were analysed and seven interviews were conducted with Australian librarians. The article highlights how librarians and faculty can collaborate to prepare pre-service teaching students to select culturally appropriate juvenile books. Results show how the students’ misconceptions or poor knowledge about multiculturalism impact their decision in the selection of material. Changes in the content and delivery of information demonstrate how to improve the knowledge and application of cultural literacy skills by the students. This case study approaches the importance of the connection between textual and visual content in juvenile books, and how a collaborative approach between a faculty member and an academic librarian can improve the acquisition of lifelong learning skills.

This paper examined the Role of Libraries and Librarians in Open Educational Resources (OER) in selected public university libraries in Tanzania. Specifically, the study sought to find out the level of OER awareness among librarians and the role played by libraries and librarians in OER in Tanzania.
