Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The Current information services are dealing with big data that is freely accessible. Companies providing information services and products need to develop creativity and innovation to maintain their existence. In this paper, we offer that information specialist can add value to information. The added value is given through an analysis of information that is relevant to user needs. The Research and Development Method can be used to develop a framework for service information products and services, and bridge the gap between the theories studied in higher education and the needs of the industry. α-Sutte Indicator can be used to predict ...

Improved Evolutionary Support Vector Machine Classifier For Coronary Artery Heart Disease Prediction Among Diabetic Patients, Narasimhan B, Malathi A Dr Apr 2019

Improved Evolutionary Support Vector Machine Classifier For Coronary Artery Heart Disease Prediction Among Diabetic Patients, Narasimhan B, Malathi A Dr

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Soft computing paves way many applications including medical informatics. Decision support system has gained a major attention that will aid medical practitioners to diagnose diseases. Diabetes mellitus is hereditary disease that might result in major heart disease. This research work aims to propose a soft computing mechanism named Improved Evolutionary Support Vector Machine classifier for CAHD risk prediction among diabetes patients. The attribute selection mechanism is attempted to build with the classifier in order to reduce the misclassification error rate of the conventional support vector machine classifier. Radial basis kernel function is employed in IESVM. IESVM classifier is evaluated through ...

The Emergence Of Institutional Repositories: A Conceptual Understanding Of Key Issues Through Review Of Literature, Om Prakash Saini

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

It is the responsibility of the libraries to keep update its users by incorporating different technologies or tricks among the services offered to users. The libraries are managing diversified collection in both electronic and physical formats including the theses and dissertations awarded by their respective parent institutes in physical form. The academic libraries are directed by the Indian government through a mandate to protect and preserve the theses and dissertation in electronic form and provide access to the public domain. Institutional Repositories (IRs) have the perspective to store any amount of information electronically. Therefore, many of the academic libraries are ...

Metadata And Linked Data In Word Sense Disambiguation, Matthew Corsmeier Jan 2015

Metadata And Linked Data In Word Sense Disambiguation, Matthew Corsmeier

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD) can be assisted by taking advantage of the metadata embedded in the various ontologies, lexica, databases, etc… that exist in the Semantic Web. Automated processes that exploit the links already present in the Semantic Web can strengthen parsing of word senses by using user-contributed and semantically-linked data. These processes are only possible because of a commitment to interoperability and the creation of shared standards. This paper will review some of the most heavily used Linguistic Linked Open Data (LLOD) tools and models which show the most promise for using metadata to alleviate problems caused by polysemous ...

Chemical Literature Databases: Conflict Of Interest?, Belinda L. Hurley

Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

A publisher of a research database controls the search algorithms of its database and, at a minimum, partially controls the indexing metadata attached to journal articles indexed in its database. A publisher of a journal partially controls the indexing metadata attached to articles in that journal. A publisher who publishes both a research database and journals that are indexed in that database has significant control over two major aspects of the discovery process. This allows the possibility for a publisher to introduce a bias into its algorithm that could favor discovery of its own articles. This work looks at search ...
