Perceptions About Rollersoccer Youth Programs, June Solomon
Perceptions About Rollersoccer Youth Programs, June Solomon
Master's Projects and Capstones
The purpose of this research was to investigate the demand for structured
RollerSoccer Youth Programs and to examine the perceptions about this type of
Program. The market for RollerSoccer is untapped and unrepresented in the
world of sports. To date, there are no articles about the development of
RollerSoccer Youth Programs or scholarly work on marketing the emerging sport
of RollerSoccer. The RollerSoccer International Federation (RSIF), the governing
body for this fast‐paced, high scoring hybrid sport aims to expand its reach to
youth in diverse communities by developing this sports initiative.
Three hundred and ten youth participants from selected schools …
Repositioning The Culture Of Power: Advocating For Systemic Change In Public Affairs Education, Richard Greggory Johnson, Cynthia Reyes, Sherwood Smith
Repositioning The Culture Of Power: Advocating For Systemic Change In Public Affairs Education, Richard Greggory Johnson, Cynthia Reyes, Sherwood Smith
Public and Nonprofit Administration
The present study sets out to characterize and analyze difficulties that typically face faculty of color who teach at Predominantly White Institutions (PWIs). Using personal narratives of junior faculty at a PWI, we explore the themes of shifting identity and marginality for faculty of color as these intersect with the presentation of public selves in university settings. This exploration is consistent with development of the themes of intersectionality and multiplicity in the work of Rivera and Ward in their Spring, 2008 Social Equity and Diversity symposium (2008).
We as authors were initially unsure whether the effort to analyze concerns surrounding …

What Do Credit Bureaus Do? Understanding Screening, Incentive, And Credit Expansion Effects, Craig Mcintosh, Bruce Wydick
What Do Credit Bureaus Do? Understanding Screening, Incentive, And Credit Expansion Effects, Craig Mcintosh, Bruce Wydick
Economics
We develop a theoretical model that explains the primary empirical results emanating from a multi-year study of the impact of credit bureaus in Guatemala. Our theory derives “screening” and “incentive” effects of credit information systems that mitigate problems of adverse selection and moral hazard in credit markets. We also derive a “credit expansion” effect in which borrowers with clean credit records receive larger and more favorable equilibrium loan contracts. The credit expansion effect increases default rates, partially counteracting the first two effects. We create a simulation model that allows us to examine the relative magnitudes of these effects in relation …
Transcribing Refugees: The Entextualization Of Asylum Seekers' Hearings In A Transidiomatic Environment, Marco Jacquemet
Transcribing Refugees: The Entextualization Of Asylum Seekers' Hearings In A Transidiomatic Environment, Marco Jacquemet
Communication Studies
This article explores the link between asylum seekers’ verbal performances and their transidiomatic entextualization by documenting the procedure through which asylum seekers’ claims are examined by judicial authorities and translated into a public record. Every year thousands of displaced people seek the protection of various European states by filing political asylum claims which are examined by national commissions. In their depositions, asylum seekers are interviewed by immigration o‰cials for approximately an hour. After this interview they are presented with a judgment: a short text that summarizes their story and spells out the commission’s decision on the case. The claim of …
The Link Between The Marital Bond And Future Triadic Family Interactions, Eve-Anne M. Doohan, Sybil Carrère, Chelsea Siler, Cheryl Beardslee
The Link Between The Marital Bond And Future Triadic Family Interactions, Eve-Anne M. Doohan, Sybil Carrère, Chelsea Siler, Cheryl Beardslee
Communication Studies
This study examined how the marital bond, as indexed through the Oral History Interview (OHI), is related to future triadic family interactions. Families (N = 108), with a 7 – 9 year old child, participated in a longitudinal study (the Family Health Project) examining children’s emotional development throughout the transition to adolescence. Parental cohesion and family cohesion, warmth, structure, and problem solving were assessed via behavioral observation during family problem solving discussions and parent-child teaching interactions 18 – 24 months after the OHI. Results indicated that the marital bond was predictive of parental cohesion, family cohesion, warmth, and structure during …

Reconciling Findings Of Emotion-Induced Memory Enhancement And Impairment Of Preceding Items, Marisa Knight, M Mather
Reconciling Findings Of Emotion-Induced Memory Enhancement And Impairment Of Preceding Items, Marisa Knight, M Mather
Psychology
A large body of work reveals that people remember emotionally arousing information better than neutral information. However, previous research reveals contradictory effects of emotional events on memory for neutral events that precede or follow them: in some studies emotionally arousing items impair memory for immediately preceding or following items and in others arousing items enhance memory for preceding items. By demonstrating both emotion-induced enhancement and impairment, Experiments 1 and 2 clarified the conditions under which these effects are likely to occur. The results suggest that emotion-induced enhancement is most likely to occur for neutral items that: (1) precede (and so …
Genetic And Environmental Contributions To Body Mass Index: Comparative Analysis Of Monozygotic Twins, Dizygotic Twins And Same-Age Unrelated Siblings, Nancy Segal, R. Feng, Shirley Mcguire, D. Allison, S. Miller
Genetic And Environmental Contributions To Body Mass Index: Comparative Analysis Of Monozygotic Twins, Dizygotic Twins And Same-Age Unrelated Siblings, Nancy Segal, R. Feng, Shirley Mcguire, D. Allison, S. Miller

Background—Earlier studies have established that a substantial percentage of variance in obesity-related phenotypes is explained by genetic components. However, only one study has used both virtual twins (VTs) and biological twins and was able to simultaneously estimate additive genetic, non-additive genetic, shared environmental and unshared environmental components in body mass index (BMI). Our current goal was to re-estimate four components of variance in BMI, applying a more rigorous model to biological and virtual multiples with additional data. Virtual multiples share the same family environment, offering unique opportunities to estimate common environmental influence on phenotypes that cannot be separated from …
The Financial Crisis And Global Supply Chains, Robert Mefford
The Financial Crisis And Global Supply Chains, Robert Mefford
Finance
The financial crisis which erupted in 2007 has already had profound effects on the global supply chains of multinational firms and will likely permanently alter some fundamental supply relationships. This essay explores what some of the consequences have been to date and speculates about future effects. Of course, the length, scope, and severity of the financial and economic crisis will determine how significant and permanent these impacts are, and it is impossible at this point in time to forecast this accurately. But in any case there have already been major developments in global supply chains that are likely to persist …
Winning, Running, And Renewing The Outsourcing Contracts, Z Perunovic, M Christoffersen, Robert Mefford
Winning, Running, And Renewing The Outsourcing Contracts, Z Perunovic, M Christoffersen, Robert Mefford
Finance
The paper explores how vendors deploy competences and capabilities across the outsourcing process in order to win, run, and renew outsourcing contracts. The results of a multiple-case study of three contract electronics manufacturers (CEMs) show that different combinations of capabilities are required for a vendor to win, run, and renew outsourcing contracts. Permanent capabilities are constantly present across the process, while temporary capabilities, depending on customer requirements, can be added or removed from the portfolio of capabilities.
