In addition, suggested changes for the annual survey conducted by ACRL to be implemented for the 2014-15 survey were presented. The digital age is changing the abilities and offerings of libraries of all types. However, there is still the notion that a physical place we call the library should exist. For most institutions that have had brick and mortar structures for decades (if not centuries), this dichotomy is fairly easy to navigate. There is an emphasis on evidence-based and evidence-informed practice in the social and behavioral sciences. Students in those fields are expected to achieve certain competencies that demonstrate their ability to conduct research. However, students at the undergraduate and graduate levels are often at a loss as to how to optimize their search strategies across multiple, online databases. This is particularly true when researching minority or ‘hidden’ populations. Information literacy—the ability to find, evaluate and use information effectively—is an essential skill set. The authors examine how assignments such as case analyses and research reports help business students master these abilities and provide examples of how analytic rubrics with measurable outcomes are particularly suited to assessing these skills. Also demonstrated is how librarians enhance and support student learning of information literacy by teaching in-depth research skills. Working together, professors and librarians can give students a solid foundation in the information-handling skills they need to be effective and productive in the workplace today.

In the fall of 2012 Sturgis Library began investigating new collection development methods for serving the needs of students and faculty at Kennesaw State University (KSU), with the intent to enhance both collection and service excellence. One area targeted for improvement beginning in FY2013- 2014 was interlibrary loan service. With over 10,000 borrowing requests in FY 2011 -2012, Library Administration engaged the newly hired Collection Development Librarian and the ILL Paraprofessional to begin investigating and implementing a robust electronic book DDA (Demand Driven Acquisitions) program in conjunction with a PDA (Patron Driven Acquisitions) program.
