Coraggio opens the meeting by inquiring about the progress with each topic team. Many of the Topic Teams required further clarification with their initiatives. In spite of this, the group work is progressing. Coraggio discussed college trends, both local and national. The committee plan the ‘Strategic Ice Cream’, which is an event made to get the community involved with the Strategic Plan using ice cream as an incentive for interacting with each Topic Team. Members responsible tell Coraggio they only need to hear from LGBTQ, Older adults, student specific groups, and members of their personal network.

Each member of the group receives a copy of Chronicle of Higher Education’s Trends Report for 2015. Using this document, the SPDT develop main trends that impact PSU. Some of these trends include focusing on employability and alignment of academics with career prep, and student indebtedness. The committee continues their dialogue from previous meetings talking about national trends in college, from the previous meeting.

The Topic Teams have scheduled their own separate meetings. The Strategic Planning Development Team does not plan to meet again as a unit until April 2nd. Members of the committee also presented the startup of the strategic plan website. The individuals at the meeting debate on whether a face-to-face interaction is important for feedback and should an online forum suffice. The committee agrees in having an online feedback page but continues to ponder the idea of an event put on by the Strategic Planning Development Team.

This meeting was facilitated by Coraggio. The committee conversed about the equity lens and its relevance on the Strategic Plan. Coraggio then opened the discussion for feedback on progress for the Topic Teams. The Topic Teams’ deadlines, organization, scheduling and team leadership are discussed as well. The Strategic Planning Development Team requests that the Coraggio group provides a template for each Topic Team so they know the optimal way in which to present their initiatives.

During this meeting, the members watched a video of students’ reactions when asked “What should PSU stand for in 5 years”. The SPDT responded to the video by analyzing the responses and coming to a common conclusion that most of the replies had to deal with campus climate.
