  • The total economic impact of all primary visitor spending and ArtPrize operational spending is estimated at $54.7 million in economic output supporting 434 jobs.

  • The tournaments brought 582 total visitors from 25 states.
  • There were 4,141 total visitor days. These visitors spent on average seven to eight days in the Bay City area.
  • Direct spending of all visitors was $815,000.
  • The total economic impact of all visitors is estimated at $976,000 in economic output supporting 10 jobs.
  • Visitors generated approximately $8,187 in additional tax revenue for Bay County.

While the literature supports sports tourism as an effective economic development strategy, small to medium-sized rural communities often do not have the resources to promote mega sports events. This paper presents estimates of the 44th Annual Racer Roundup College Rodeo’s economic impact. In addition to providing a case study of a relatively minor event, the aimed contribution is twofold: it offers solutions to typical challenges faced when estimating smaller-scale events’ economic impacts, and it suggests a simple way to obtain benchmark values for the magnitude of the results. Research on long term economic development has consolidated around the central role of economic and political institutions. Within these institutional spaces, structural policies represent a subset of incentive structures with their own effects on economic behavior. To capture the separate effects of both institutional environments and structural policies, we construct an Institutional Index (II) and a Structural Policy Index (SPI) to evaluate their effects on income levels and short term growth rates for non-high-income states. The Formation Of Physician Patient Sharing Networks In Medicare: Exploring The Effect Of Hospital Affiliation, Sebastian Linde

This study explores the forces that drive the formation of physician patient sharing networks. In particular, I examine the degree to which hospital affiliation drives physicians' sharing of Medicare patients. Using a revealed preference framework where observed network links are taken to be pairwise stable, I estimate the physicians' pair‐specific values using a tetrad maximum score estimator that is robust to the presence of unobserved physician specific characteristics. Economic Impact Of Small Scale Event To The Local Economy: Case Of Canfield Fair, Sungsoo Kim, James Dombrosky

Journal of Tourism Insights

This study examines the economic contribution of the Canfield Fair on the local community. The fair accounted for $13,419,332 in new money generated in the local economy and total expenditures of $16,874,927. Out of this total, $9,578,936 was generated from out-of-town visitors, versus $7,295,991 from local attendees. The initial amount of $9,578,936 spent by visitors created direct, indirect, and induced impacts within the local economy. The direct effect of this spending as estimated by an IMPLAN input/output model was $8,166,956, with $2,880,940 and $2,371,436 as indirect and induced impacts respectively, for a total aggregate effect on local earnings of $13,419,332.
