The Significance Of The Oso Condensate Project In The Nigerian Economy, I. P. Ojinnaka
The Significance Of The Oso Condensate Project In The Nigerian Economy, I. P. Ojinnaka
Bullion
This paper outlines the historical background and financing of the Oso condensate project, examines the benefits of the project in terms of revenue expectation, infrastructure development, employment and investment opportunities, benefit to the communities and owners of the project, as well as underline the potential constraints. For the ease of presentation, the paper is organised into sections and an introduction. Section I describes the features of the project while section II analyses the benefits. Section III outlines the potential constraints and section IV is summary and conclusion.

This paper presents an approach for integrating simulation modeling and analysis capabilities within the workflow management system (WFMS) being developed in the Large Scale Distributed Information Systems (LSDIS) Lab at the University of Georgia. Simulation modeling can be used for studying the efficiency of workflow designs as well as studying the general performance and reliability of WFMSs. We also discuss the importance of using sophisticated monitoring and animation capabilities, and the use of workflow management technology to advance simulation technology itself. Finally, we demonstrate a sample simulation where tasks and task managers are simulated.
Palynological Characteristics Of Near-Shore Shell-Bearing Pliocene Through Holocene Sediments Of Florida, Georgia, And South Carolina, Fredrick J. Rich
Palynological Characteristics Of Near-Shore Shell-Bearing Pliocene Through Holocene Sediments Of Florida, Georgia, And South Carolina, Fredrick J. Rich
School of Earth, Environment, and Sustainability Faculty Publications
Seventeen pollen-bearing samples· from sites in South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida were analyzed for their pollen content. The samples range in age from Late Pliocene to Holocene. The initial objective of the study was to use the samples to help define the age of the physiographic feature known as Trail Ridge. All samples were marine sediments, and many were from marine mollusk-dominated strata. Pollen of Pinus and Quercus were abundant in all samples; Taxodium was abundant in about half of them. Carya, Liquidambar, Compositae, Gramineae, and ChenopodiaceaeAmaranthaceae were present as accessory taxa. Dinoflagellate cysts, microforams, and pyrite were present, or …

Intelligent Control Of Vehicles: Preliminary Results On The Application Of Learning Automata Techniques To Automated Highway System, Cem Unsal, John S. Bay, Pushkin Kachroo
Electrical & Computer Engineering Faculty Research
We suggest an intelligent controller for an automated vehicle to plan its own trajectory based on sensor and communication data received. Our intelligent controller is based on an artificial intelligence technique called learning stochastic automata. The automaton can learn the best possible action to avoid collisions using the data received from on-board sensors. The system has the advantage of being able to work in unmodeled stochastic environments. Simulations for the lateral control of a vehicle using this AI method provides encouraging results.
On The Equivalence Of Upward And Downward Inheritance Reasoners, Krishnaprasad Thirunarayan
On The Equivalence Of Upward And Downward Inheritance Reasoners, Krishnaprasad Thirunarayan
Kno.e.sis Publications
In this paper, we analyze systematically the downward (property flow) and the upward (individual flow) views of inheritance for different categories of inheritance networks. We observe that both these views assign the same meaning to tree-structured hierarchies, and explain the divergence in the interpretation of more general networks in terms of their expressive power. This simple analysis sheds light on the inherent nature of nonmonotonic inheritance and can form the basis for the design of efficient algorithms for certain classes of queries. In addition, we describe the notion of preferential inheritance to specify additional conflict resolution information that can be …

In the face of numerous proposals for privatizing, marketing, and changing the management of public lands, the Natural Resources Law Center will hold its third annual fall public lands conference October 11-13, at the CU School of Law in Boulder.
A panel of public land users and neighbors, including timber, grazing, mining, recreation, and environmental interests, will address current discontent with public land policy and management. There will also be discussion …
