Thanksgiving, Richard C. Crepeau
On Sport and Society
(As with all American traditions if it happened once or twice it is one. Therefore I present my traditional Thanksgiving piece) The History of Thanksgiving and of Football both go back into the Middle Ages, and so it may not be so strange that the two would become intertwined in modern America.

Football's final attempt at a win: Expectations may have been too high for O'Leary's start; Activity fee to increase: SGA-baked boost would push UCF's overall per-hour charges to the top; Tofurkey as an alternative: Animal-rights campaigners aim for Thanksgiving awareness; Jesus would vote for George W. Bush: And other myths of Christianity politics and their jilted marriage.

September 11, 2001: An Individual Media Dependency Perspective, Tyrone Hamilton Glade
Theses and Dissertations
This study uses individual media dependency (IMD) to examine student dependency on the media before and during the attacks of September 11. A content analysis of media journals kept by a group of university students during the week of September 11 confirmed the existence of the IMD relationship, a finding that adds to the methodological breadth of IMD research. Goal scope, which is composed of the understanding, orientation, and play goals narrowed to the goal of social understanding on September 11 only to expand outwards to pre-September 11 levels by the end of that week. The theory postulates goal scope …

Attention Hypocrites! Your future is in the executive suites of television networks and the officialdom of the National Football League. The only requirement is that you have the ability to make self-righteous pronouncements about public morality and taste while maintaining your composure and never once betraying yourself with so much as a hint of a smile. Even, the now fashionable smirk, will not be tolerated. If you get really good at this and have a relative in the cabinet you might even be appointed to head the FCC.

Crossed Signals In A Wireless World: The Seventh Circuit’S Misapplication Of The Complete Preemption Doctrine, Matthew J. Kleiman
Crossed Signals In A Wireless World: The Seventh Circuit’S Misapplication Of The Complete Preemption Doctrine, Matthew J. Kleiman
Duke Law & Technology Review
As the number of wireless telephone users continues to proliferate, so does the number of lawsuits against wireless service providers. While consumers seek to utilize various consumer-friendly state law causes of action, the wireless industry continues to push for a uniform federal regulatory regime. Ambiguous language in the Federal Communications Act of 1934 ("FCA") and disagreement among the federal circuits has led to much confusion over whether state law claims affecting wireless rates and market entry are removable to federal court by way of "complete preemption." This iBrief argues that FCA's preemption power is limited by its savings clause, failure …

Media is a contributing factor in creating a market for the prostitution of minors in Japan today. Media creates an image to which the girls aspire by placing the trendiest items in the hands of music and movie idols who the girls look up to . The drive to then own these trendy, and expensive, products forces the girls into marketing their bodies to strangers. Though in many ways media can be seen as the root of all evil through print and film advertisements, there are some forms of media which work as a caution instead of an encouragement to …

On Sport and Society
It has been an amazing fall season, not only for the Red Sox saga but also considering the eerie quiet on the college football scene. The usual run of assaults, petty thefts, sexual misconduct cases, drug charges, and weapons possession cases have been as rare as football victories for the University of Central Florida.
