In 2022, based on Google Trends tools, Indonesia is ranked third as the country with the most searches related to Japanese anime. Wibu is a term that refers to someone who is outside Japan but likes and even tends to be obsessed with the culture of that country. This research aims explore how stereotypes of Wibu in Indonesia are constructed by digital media, specifically YouTube. Research findings show that Wibu in Indonesia is stereotyped as "smelling of onions", "Wibu Nolep", "perverted Wibu" and “pshycopath Wibu.” By conducting textual analysis on YouTube videos that are related to Wibu content, we argue …

"De Oost" is a film directed by Jim Taihuttu, a Netherlandsman of Ambon descent, which tells the story of the Westerling Tragedy. Its launch sparked controversy from former Netherlands East Indies veterans to Raymond Westerling's daughter because it was considered to distort facts and not fit Westerling's description. This controversy raises the problem of how Jim Taihuttu represents Westerling through the character de Turk. Studies on the construction of women in Nollywood films have majorly focused on the subjugation of women by the phallocentric African men and the need for socio-economic liberation. Most of these films perceive women as a socially constituted homogenous group on the basis of shared oppression.
