In April 2017, archaeologists from Coastal Environments, Inc. (CEI) conducted intensive archaeological survey with shovel testing in accordance with Council of Texas Archeologists (CTA) and Texas Historical Commission (THC) guidelines on approximately 131 acres of land at I.B. Magee Park for the Nueces County Coastal Parks System in advance of proposed improvements to the park. The park is located along the shoreline in Port Aransas, Texas at the northern end of Mustang Island, immediately south of the University of Texas Marine Science Institute and the Corpus Christi Ship Channel, also known as Aransas Pass.

In June 2015, AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. began an intensive archeological survey for the Farm-toMarket (FM) 723 expansion project, north of the City of Rosenberg, Fort Bend County, Texas (CSJ# 0188-09-040). Work was delayed due to a lack of right-of-entry (ROE) into portions of the project area. After ROE was granted, archaeological survey was completed in late August of 2017. The total project length is approximately 9.3 miles, or about 228.11 acres, of which 97.9 acres are proposed new Rightof-Way (ROW). AmaTerra conducted the archeological survey under Texas Antiquities Permit No. 7293.

The Texas Department of Transportation has been identified as the Lead Agency for this project. In October 2017, an intensive archeological survey was completed in order to inventory and evaluate archeological resources within the footprint of the landfill expansion area. This report summarizes the results of archeological and historical investigations for the Old Pecos Cemetery in Pecos City, Reeves County, Texas. Colgate Energy plans to purchase the area around the cemetery and construct oil and gas facilities on that property. The Old Pecos Cemetery contains graves interred from 1881 to around 1910. It occupies an area of about 0.33 acres and is known to contain many unmarked burials. A ground-penetrating radar (GPR) investigation was conducted by members of the Archeology Division of the Texas Historical Commission at the Alamo Mission in San Antonio, Texas on December 2, 2015. The purpose of the survey was to determine whether GPR is a suitable technology for mapping subsurface features on the site in advance of future archeological investigations or development. On June 27, 2017, TxDOT conducted an intensive archeological survey for the proposed bridge replacement at FM 108 at Sandies Creek in Gonzales County, Texas. This proposed project would replace the existing 25 –foot-wide bridge with an approximately 45 foot-wide bridge. The total area of potential effects (APE) for the two bridge replacements is approximately 3.7 acres. No new ROW or easements are proposed for the project. Although the schematic design plans show only fill being added to the existing ground surface of the roadway approaches, depth of impact for the support pilings is estimated at approximately 50 feet.

In May 2017, AmaTerra Environmental, Inc. (AmaTerra) conducted an archeological resource survey of a proposed deep borehole drill site in Pecos County, Texas. The project area was located on University of Texas land and included a 12,700-foot access road to be regraded, three potential powerline extensions measuring 6,000 to 6,500 feet each, and a 320-acre circular buffer zone surrounding the borehole, 20 rectangular acres of which were to be utilized as a lease area by the Department of Energy for the drill site. Murphree Wildlife Management Area (WMA) portion of the Port Arthur Pipeline Project (PAPL), located in Jefferson County, southeastern Texas. On October 18 and 19, 2017, Blanton & Associates, Inc. conducted an intensive archeological survey of the proposed Leah Tract Development and Leah Avenue Extension on behalf of Lifestyle Development LLC in Hays County, Texas. The total area of potential effects for the proposed project is approximately 50 acres (20.23 hectares) in size, and the maximum depth of impacts from the proposed project would be 6 feet below the current ground surface. On October 11, 2017, archeologists James T. Abbott and Eric R. Oksanen of TxDOT’s Archeological Studies Branch conducted an archeological survey of the proposed 0.45 acre Area of Potential Effect (APE) as part of the environmental review process in support of the replacement of the existing bridge on County Road 622 at San Francisco Perez Creek in Medina County. Previously documented archeological site 41ME103 is shown in the Texas Archeological Sites Atlas to extend into the APE.
