Studies On Physical Properties And Carrier Conversion Of Sno_2:Nd Thin Films, Jochan Joseph, Varghese Mathew, Jacob Mathew, K. E. Abraham

Turkish Journal of Physics

Neodymium (Nd)-doped SnO_2 transparent conducting oxide thin films were prepared by vapour deposition technique under different deposition parameters: substrate temperature, time and flow rate of vapour deposition, amount of base material, distance between the substrate and spray gun tip, and dopant (Nd) concentration. The structural, optical, electrical and photo-electronic properties of the doped and undoped SnO_2 films were studied. X-ray diffraction studies shows the polycrystalline nature of the films with preferential orientation along the (101), (211) and (301) planes and an average grain size of 100 Å. The optical properties of these films were studied by measuring their optical transmission …

We have developed an infrared imaging setup enabling in situ infrared images to be acquired, and expanded on capabilities of an infrared imaging as a high-throughput screening technique, determination of a critical thickness of a Pd capping layer which significantly blocks infrared emission from below, enhancement of sensitivity to hydrogenation and dehydrogenation by normalizing raw infrared intensity of a Mg thin film to an inert reference, rapid and systematic screening of hydrogenation and dehydrogenation properties of a Mg–Ni composition spread covered by a thickness gradient Pd capping layer, and detection of formation of a Mg2Si phase in a …

Nano-Structure Formation Driven By Local Protonation Of Polymer Thin Films, Carsten Maedler, Harald Graaf, Mingdi Yan, Andres H. La Rosa

We report the creation of nano-structures via Dip Pen Nanolithography by locally exploiting the mechanical response of polymer thin films to an acidic environment. Protonation of cross linked poly(4-vinylpyridine) (P4VP) leads to a swelling of the polymer. We studied this process by using an AFM tip coated with a pH 4 buffer. Protons migrate through a water meniscus between tip and sample into the polymer matrix and interact with the nitrogen of the pyridyl group forming a pyridinium cation. The increase in film thickness, which is due to Coulomb repulsion between the charged centers, was investigated using Atomic Force Microscopy. …
