Exploring Knowledge Processes For Technology Assimilation, Rochelle K. Young
Exploring Knowledge Processes For Technology Assimilation, Rochelle K. Young
Engineering Management & Systems Engineering Theses & Dissertations
In the emerging knowledge society, the ability to make the experience and expertise of those involved in and affected by new technology unconditionally available to all members of an organization is becoming increasingly important. One of the problems in developing such knowledge processes for technology assimilation is that current social structures do not easily accommodate unconditional participation. Since the implementation of modern information technology is changing the workplace and the nature of work itself, alternative social structures are needed. This research takes as given that deep questions concerning knowledge processes and social transformation are in principle undecidable; and, only questions …

Controlling Experiment-Wise Type I Error Of Meta-Analysis In The Solomon Four-Group Design, Shlomo S. Sawilowsky
Theoretical and Behavioral Foundations of Education Faculty Publications
Abstract. Stouffer=s Z, a meta-analytic technique, was proposed by W. Braver and Braver (1988) for analyzing data collected from a Solomon Four-group Design. Sawilowsky, Kelley, Blair, and Markman (1994) showed that this technique produces inflated Type I error rates. Recommendations are made to control the false positive inflation of their procedure.

Development And Evaluation Of Internet-Based Hypermedia Chemistry Tutorials, Brian Tissue, Ronald Earp, Ching-Wan Yip, Mark Anderson
Mark R. Anderson
This progress report describes the development and student use of World-Wide-Web-based prelaboratory exercises in senior-level Instrumental Analysis during the 1995 Fall semester. The laboratory preparation exercises contained hypermedia tutorials and multiple-choice questions that were intended to familiarize the students with the experiments and instrumentation before their laboratory session. The overall goal of our work is to explore ways in which computer and network technology can be applied in education to improve the cost-effectiveness and efficacy of teaching. The course material can be accessed at http://www.chem.vt.edu/chem-ed/4114/Fall1995.html.

Innovations In Reuse, Lisa R. Osorio
Innovations In Reuse, Lisa R. Osorio
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Material reuse benefits all sectors in the community by decreasing the amount of reusable solid waste that is discarded. It increases the resources available for various programs and builds partnerships with educators, and businesses to support and promote reuse programs that will improve the quality of life in areas in which they operate. Several areas of the country currently have reuse programs that focus on several areas of reuse. Successful projects in several cities have focused on such areas as reuse for education, the arts, or other nonprofit activities. These sustainable programs have benefited other communities and should serve as …
