Colloquium organizers, committee members and/or moderators included University of Colorado School of Law professors Daniel Magraw, James N. Corbridge, Jr. and Lawrence J. MacDonnell (Director, Natural Resources Law Center).
The United Nations International Law Commission has drafted new rules on the non-navigational uses of international watercourses. University of Colorado Law Professor Daniel Magraw has organized a colloquium to review these draft rules on October 18, 1991, sponsored jointly by the Panel on State Responsibility of the American Society of International Law, the University of Colorado School of Law, and the International Environmental Law Committee of the ABA's Section of International …

Public Beach Assessment Report Aqua-Po Stafford County, Virginia, Deborah Linden, Donna Radcliffe, C. Scott Hardaway Jr., Suzette Kimball
Reports
The Aqua-Po Public Beach report is the first in a series of reports on the public beaches in the Commonwealth of Virginia. There are 14 localities with public beaches totaling about 23 miles of shoreline. The public beach reports are an assessment of the history of each public beach and their current status in terms of loss of beach fill and maintenance needed. This is measured by the beach monitoring program sponsored by the Virginia Board on the Conservation and Development of Public Beaches.

Kinetics And Mechanisms Of Atrazine Adsorption And Desorption In Soils Under No-Till And Conventional Management, V. P. Evangelou, W. W. Witt, E. Portig, Mike Barrett
Kinetics And Mechanisms Of Atrazine Adsorption And Desorption In Soils Under No-Till And Conventional Management, V. P. Evangelou, W. W. Witt, E. Portig, Mike Barrett
KWRRI Research Reports
Both soils (Maury silt loam and Sadler) exhibited three apparent mechanisms of atrazine adsorption. The first two mechanisms were very rapid (10 minutes) and were assigned to soil-clay surface adsorption reactions via hydrogen bonding. The quantity of atrazine involved in these two reactions for the 0.5 mg/1 solution atrazine varied, depending on the soil, from 67 μg/100 g clay to 219 μg/100 g clay. The reason there were two possible atrazine sinks in this range of atrazine adsorption was believed to be the presence of two types of reactive surfaces, the clay inorganic phase and the organic carbon phase. The …
Stable N-Chloraldimines And Other Chlorination Products Of Phenylalanine In Model Solutions And In A Wastewater, Barbara L. Conyers
Stable N-Chloraldimines And Other Chlorination Products Of Phenylalanine In Model Solutions And In A Wastewater, Barbara L. Conyers
Chemistry & Biochemistry Theses & Dissertations
Model solutions of the amino acid phenylalanine were chlorinated to seven Cl/N mole ratios. The by-products were characterized using gas chromatography, high performance liquid chromatography, GC/MS, infrared spectroscopy, and nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. At the lower Cl/N ratios N-chlorophenylalanine and phenylacetaldehyde were identified as the main products while phenylacetonitrile and N-chlorophenylacetaldimine were the major products at Cl/N ratios of 2.0 and beyond. The concentration of phenylalanine in a municipal wastewater was determined. Using a radiotracer the chlorination products of phenylalanine in the wastewater at the 7 Cl/N ratios were identified as those seen in the model solutions. The distribution of …
Setting Time Effects On Bentonite Water-Well Annulus Seals, Fred L. Ogden
Setting Time Effects On Bentonite Water-Well Annulus Seals, Fred L. Ogden
Fred L. Ogden
Shear strength tests are conducted in a model of a water well on four, commercially available, granular bentonite well sealing products. The time dependency of annulus seal shear strength and resistance to piping is examined. Dry bentonite samples are placed through water in the annular space between the casing and borehole and allowed to set for a specified time. Pressure is applied at a constant rate to one end of the clay seal until shear or piping failure occurs. Pressure and seal displacement data are recorded on a digital data acquisition system. Annulus seal strength and resistance to piping increase …
